Online Success Cast #28: The Power of Focus in Your Business with Kelly McCausey

It's BAAAACK.  🙂

onlinesuccesscast-smWelcome to another episode of the Online Business Success Cast.

I'll be bringing back the usual format of the Success Cast, but will be interspersing some quickies like the one below.

My friend, Kelly McCausey, is passionate about helping entrepreneurs to be more successful by helping them to FOCUS.

I grabbed her on Skype today and asked her the following questions:

1. Why is focus important?
2. How do you know what to focus on?
3. What do you do to regain your focus when you wander off on side projects?

The audio recording of our interview is below. Just look for the “play” button and listen. It’s free!

If you're not familiar with Kelly yet, here's more about her and why I wanted her on the show.

Hi Nicole and Kelly, I think I’m aiming for the big tree business. Some good tips there.

Very nice podcast packed with helpful information!

The analogies and the questions Kelly posed to help us learn how to focus and determine if we are building a big tree business or just tending an orchard really clarified things for me.

I also added that multiplication trick to my toolbox … multiplication through subtraction. I really have a hard time focusing because I enjoy doing a variety of things online and off. As a result, I find myself starting and dropping projects much too often. I’ve really been focusing on curbing this issue.

My focus now is on building a big tree business where the branches connect beautifully because it has been nurtured and pruned due to my focus, clarity and purpose. I will like to finally begin to see the fruits of my labor or some measure of success whereby my seedling grows into a massive “money tree”!

I know it’s possible but I need to develop more confidence to do some of the things that will better position me for growth, like vlogging, podcasting, creating videos and creating my own info-product. Just as Nicole stated, lack of confidence can really handicap one’s growth.

Kelly, I’m going to check out “The Power of a Focused Business” right now!

    Thanks for sharing!

When I see that happening, the first thing I do is verbally tell myself to focus. (Yes, in addition to all that, I also have a quirky need to talk to myself.) I make a micro to-do list of things that I must get done that day (or even within the next few hours) and I turn off everything else. Email gets closed, Facebook gets shut down and any pressing thoughts or ideas get quickly jotted on a sticky note so I can come back to them later without forgetting what I was so excited about.
