Don’t Phone Spam Me

Hey Affiliate Managers & Marketers — get some manners!

oooh…. I have a gripe. I am normally a very nice person, but I HATE HATE HATE being phone spammed. I don't know who thought it was good business practice to record an audio and blast it to all of their leads, but it's just plain wrong for several reasons.

1. It interrupts my work. Don't mess with a work at home mom. I have exactly 5.5 hours M-F that are all MINE MINE MINE to get my work done. Do not. I repeat. … do NOT mess with MY time.

2. It interrupts my writing. If you're a writer, you know how you get into the “zone” and feel your fingers flying. You know what interrupts that? The phone — which I don't mind if it's actually a REAL person on the other end.

3. It's just plain RUDE. If you're going to interrupt my work (or my nap) and get my attention, then you darned well better be a REAL person on the other end. I don't send a delivery to YOUR home with a tape recorder playing a message from me — don't do it. Just don't.

4. I'm YOUR affiliate. I'm doing YOU a favor. Guess what? Your launch is NOT my #1 priority in my day. I actually have OTHER things I need to do. Don't interrupt them.

5. You can't opt-OUT. There's nothing at the end that says “Hey, if you don't want me harassing you while you're trying to take a pee just click here”. I can't DO anything to get rid of it.

6. I never opted-IN. I said that they could send me EMAILS — not call me.

Now, I'm an affiliate manager and proud of it, but the next affiliate manager who spams me at home on my HOME telephone is gonna get an earful.

And, for that aff man who phone spammed me today… ADIOS!

How's that for a big vent? Kelly is probably sitting there with her mouth open since she says I'm too nice. But, hey, a girl should be able to PEE without getting interrupted by an affiliate manager for a program she WAS (past tense) interested in promoting.

Hey, I should send that aff man the link to www.SalesArmySecrets.com to learn how a REAL affiliate manager treats her peeps.

Opinions? Obviously I have one. 😉

Definitely not cool that you have no way of opting out…. I also noticed that there are quite a few programs now that won’t let you sign up as an affiliate unless you give them a phone number.

I’m sorry… but all you need to know is my email, my paypal email addy and the website I will promoting you on. The rest, frankly is none of your business (Not you Nik… affiliate managers in general 🙂 )

I use a cellphone we barely use … we just keep it in the car for making emergency calls and check the voicemail once a month or so.

This definitely makes you think twice about giving out your home phone number.

Gee Nicole, why don’t you just tell us how you *really* feel? LOL

Yay! I’m glad to see I’m not the only person that gets ticked off over this sorta thing! Kudos to you! Now quick, run potty before it rings again to remind you that you need to mail your mailing list in the next 2 hours to help you win a great prize! 😉

I give my voicemail on all affiliate applications. 🙂 My VA checks the voicemail and deletes these messages for me.

Yeah. I’m glad they didn’t have my cell or I would have been paying for their *recorded* call.

I ask for phone numbers, but I’d only use them in case I couldn’t get through to the person in email and owed him or her money. And, I would actually BE on the other end of the line. Geesh.

I find this irritating too. I once had an internet marketer call me up one day and take about 30 minutes of my time trying to recruit me into melaleuca.

I used to respect him and we had helped each other out a little bit, but this turned me off so bad.

Alice — oh, you can BET I’m changing that number. lol!

Carrie — You gotta be meaner than that. After about 30 seconds kick his butt off the phone. That’s time away from your family! I love the Melaleuca products, but I am not looking for another business either.

My normal reply with telemarketers is “I’m sorry, but I don’t do any business over the phone. Please remove me from your list.” And they say “But ma’am, blah blah blah” and so I’ll say it nice one more time without the “please”, then I hang up, regardless of whether they are still talking or not. lol!

Nicole, another way to say it would be,
“I’m sorry, but I don’t do any business over the phone. Please remove me from your list.” And they say “But ma’am, blah blah blah”..BS.BS, and then you could say, “You little D…H…(clue:and it’s not “DearHubby”), stay off my phone! Have a Nice Day! Then Hang Up! LOL!
