What’s Stopping YOU?

Good morning!

I mentioned last week, that I am doing some consulting work. I really enjoy it, almost as much as doing one-on-one coaching. ๐Ÿ™‚ It's fun for me to help other people succeed. I love it!

I've been doing this for awhile now, and I noticed a common theme. There's a roadblock for everyone … at some stage in the game.

Now, that roadblock may be figuring out which niche you want to target, deciding what kind of site to launch, or how to get a website up and running, building a list, getting traffic — or maybe just picking up the phone.

So, I'm wondering — what's YOUR roadblock? What's keeping you from getting to where you wanted to be this year? What's stopping you?

I think, if you can pinpoint the ONE thing right now, today, that is stopping you, blocking you, maybe we can move past it (on to the next roadblock). ๐Ÿ˜‰

Please send me your stories. I'd love to help. You can post them below.

FOCUS! Now, I do have other roadblocks, but if I had to pick the biggest one, right now, focus would be it. I have so much going on in my personal life that I can’t focus on work. When I can focus on work, I’m working on multiple client websites (not a bad thing). That leaves little if any time to work on my own websites. When I finally get to my websites, I have too much to catch up on, don’t know which thing to work on first, etc.

OK, so it’s definitely a bigger problem than just focus, but you said to pick one. LOL!

PERFECTIONISM!! As K.C. said, I have other roadblocks abound, but I think perfectionism’s as the heart of them. For example, procrastination’s a huge issue, but if I don’t start something, I can’t do it wrong ๐Ÿ˜‰ I tend to be in perpetual research mode, so I have all these tools at my disposal, spinning wheels, tons to do, lots of ideas – basically just need to get it in gear and DO IT! So…fear and perfectionism. and FOCUS.

    1. Focus 2. Procrastination 3. Perfectionism

I have all the three blocks. I want to know every detail about something before I want to take a decision and actually do something about it.

Time – I feel like I never have enough time to get finished what I want to accomplish! I’ve got great clients and I love doing work for them but I want to expand my business in terms of helping more clients and making information products…. My roadblock is being the most effective with the time I have and trying to do too many things at once.

Yeah, I’m with everyone above. Focus and Time….I keep getting off on these side ideas (and jumping in at every sales letter than comes through my email) and then I have no time for those things that are making me money or fit into my passion and target.

Your coaching, Nicole, has been tremendous in that respect. When I talk with you, I get perspective again and can hit the road running. ๐Ÿ™‚

Well I must say it is TIME for me! My time is being directed towards things I want and need to do. It is being given to others, those “mom/wife things”. I have such good intentions to get things done but I seem to get interruped. I work from my home so I am there for the family, but being that I am always here means I am asked to do too many things. Things that take me away from my work. I guess it is time for a family conference!! I need to be more protectiove of my time. My time to work that is. Am I right?

For me, it’s mainly procrastination fueled in part by fear of not knowing what to do first and of doing it wrong. Just like Jan said – if I don’t do it, it can’t be wrong! So it’s easier to perpetually surf the web in the name of “research”, do something else on my to-do list, etc.

And I feel overwhelmed with all the information that’s out there. All the adivce, emails, etc. I want to read it all but then hours have slipped by unoticed. My focus is definitely off!

Focus. Procrastination. Time. Finding Traffic. Trying to decide on what niche to focus, procrastinating on building a website and getting sidetracked with emails, sales letters and surfing the web, finding the time to do everything I have on my “to do” list and not knowing exactly how to launch my ebook (don’t already have a list, so how do I market to a niche?)

For me…well, I can’t narrow it down to one. I know one big one is the phone. I hate talking on the phone. Especially with people I don’t know.

Two is time. And with that commitment. When I got involved in my business I was already deeply committed to another project–a huge one–my farm. They are both worthy in different ways, but the farm is not going to help me reach all my goals. And if I can’t figure out how to divide my time effectively between the two I will never succeed with either.

For me, it’s finding the right balance between family and my desire to run my business. I want it all and I need to find a better balance!

Seems I’m not alone on the focus roadblock. However, I think my biggest one right now is organization.

I have great intentions and many times get organized, it’s staying that way that I have a problem with. Give me a day, I can get organized, give me 5 minutes and I can complete undo it all! ๐Ÿ™‚ Sounds like my kids…OH MY, now I know where they get it.

~shamelessly running off to work on my issues!~ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh, yes – Focus – it is really good to know I’m not the only one who has that as a big issue. Thanks for starting this subject, Nik.

Well, I have to echo what Annette said – you, Nik, have helped me so much with your coaching, and helping me to focus on being The Cravings Coach – I do still get sidetracked, but not as much as before!

WELL I DON’T JUMP INTO THINGS I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT, WHILE I’M TRYING TO PUT MY LIFE BACK TOGETHER, I’M TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO SAVE MY HOME. EVERYTHING I WANT TO DO INVOLVES BIG$$$$$$ THAT I DON’T HAVE , SO I’M STUCK IN A VERY DEPRESSING SITUATION. I WON’T GIVE UP. CAROL

Lack of computer knowledge and skills is my roadblock. I don’t understand half of what people are talking about for jobs. I feel D-U-M-B and that just gets me discouraged.
