You are Invited to Get Healthy with Me
Hi guys! Happy Sunday.
This past week, I've felt like God or the “universe” has been trying to tell me something.
Do you remember the movie “The Man with Two Brains“? In the movie, Steve Martin's character recently lost his beloved wife, and is considering marrying again. He stands in front of a large painting of his wife and says “Just give me a sign, if I shouldn't be with her… any sign…” The pictures start spinning, you hear screaming “NOOOOOO” and the house shakes. Remember that?
Well, I think my sign may be just as obvious, because that's what the past week has been like for me. Let me know what you think —
First on Tuesday, I had my podcast with Scott Tousignant who is the Fat Loss Quickie Coach. Listen to our chat here: Fat Loss Quickie Success Cast. He helps busy entrepreneurs like me and you to do quick 10 minute workouts that enable us to lose fat, feel better, and also be more productive — and get more done!
Now, that sounded pretty good to me. He also talked with me during the podcast about doing challenges and inviting your readers to participate along with you. Hmm… you see where this is going? (Sign #1: The 10 Minute Quickie Workout Coach lands in my space and we become friends.)
Then, on Wednesday, I was guest blogging at Jimmy D. Brown's blog doing a series entitled “Lessons Learned working with a Guru” and I inspired myself. ha! That sounds funny, but basically I was talking about how much weight I've gained and how I have made excuses for not finding the time to exercise, but how I should be able to find 10 stinking minutes a day for crying out loud! (Sign #2: My inner self was screaming out for help!)
Then, Friday, my mom called me and asked me to come and get her because she didn't feel well. Scared the poop out of me that she might not be healthy and then I got mad at her for not finding the time to exercise. (Sign #3: Pot, I'd like you to meet kettle.)
Anyway, what does this have to do with me, and more importantly you? 🙂
Here's the scoop. I am going to spend the next month going through Scott's Fat Loss Quickie Home Office Program. And, you can follow along either by watching and cheering me on or by doing the challenge with me.
Either way, you are invited to read my journey and see what happens.
Oh yeah, one more thing. You guys all know how much I love my red wine at night, right? Well, I'm going to give it up until this challenge is over. There's no point in downing lots of sugar right before bed if I'm going to give Scott's challenge a real effort. (Plus, it's not fair to him to be a case study sabotager, either.) I made it through my first night with no wine last night and slept just fine so there's no excuse on my part why I can't give it up for a month or more.
So, that's the scoop.
If you'd like to join me in the challenge, and I hope you will, just sign up for the $20 program (one-time charge) below. If you are unhappy with the way you look and feel, feeling fatigued, and not getting a whole lot done during the day, I hope you'll consider joining me. Then, be sure to sign up for my email updates (see the right nav to sign up) and be sure to post your comments every day.
Videos, audios, and cross-blog posts are welcome, as well.
Let's find 10 minutes every day to get healthier so we can enjoy the LIFESTYLE that we're working towards.
((hugs)) to all.
Nicole
PS. I'd love to give away prizes to those who stick it out with me and really get into the contest. Any ideas for what you'd like to win? 🙂
Note: You can follow all posts by keeping an eye on the Computer Butt category to the right.

August 30, 2009 at 2:52 pmThere’s no “Someday” on the calendar, girlfriend.
It won’t be any easier in a week… or a month… or a year.
I need all the help I can get! Even if you don’t use Scott’s program and just walk for 15 minutes every day for the next month and check in here.
Pretty please?

August 30, 2009 at 9:43 amNicole I’m totally with you!
Would love to do some cross-blog posts and videos too. I’ve gained a whopping 45 lbs since coming home a little over two years ago and I’m determined to drop it again now because it’s really weighing me down.
My only plan up until today was getting up and dancing like heck to some of my favorite songs multiple times during the day and of course eating a lot better but I love the idea of the Fat Loss Quickie from two people who look in awesome shape.
Anyway, looks like I’m already writing my first blog post, hehe.
I think an awesome prize would be some coaching so whoever wins can improve their body AND their business 🙂
Nicole
August 30, 2009 at 2:51 pmI’ve gained about 50, too, although, thankfully I’m tall and have been able to hide some of it for awhile.
However, no more excuses. I’m not getting any younger or healthier and it’s time to get my priorities in line.
It won’t be any easier to do a year from now, so might as well make it today, right? 🙂
Angela Wills
August 30, 2009 at 3:28 pmI’m tall too so same here. How tall are you? I’m a little over 5’9” I think.
Just got back from the mall – I went there specifically to go buy a fitness ball, rope and dumbbells – got it all for $35 – deal!
Nicole
August 30, 2009 at 6:12 pmI’m about 5’7″ these days, I think. I shrunk a bit. 🙂
I’m all signed up and ready to roll!

August 31, 2009 at 6:50 pmWoohoo! Posted my first post and a video (which makes me look FATTER than I actually am, I SWEAR, lol)
Look what you’ve started Nicole! Signs of a true leader right here, motivating the masses to action 😉

September 1, 2009 at 1:09 pmWOW. That was incredibly brave of you. If my video camera did that to me, I think I’d throw the whole thing in the trash. lol.
You’ve got guts! (oops. I don’t mean that in a computer gut way, either.) 🙂

August 30, 2009 at 11:57 amI’ll be posting quotes from Scott along the way.
Here’s one that’s really appropriate when he was getting back into shape after a bad spell where he’d gained a bunch of weight:
“I highly encourage you to make your fat loss goals public. I
guarantee that it will increase your chances of sticking with your
program drastically. We also made a promise that we would
document our fat loss journey on our blog.”

The Aforementioned Mom
August 30, 2009 at 12:31 pmMy ears were ringing, so I figured my darling daughter was using my name in vain again. Ha! And, I was right! She is, however, telling you the truth about my lazy ways of late.
I am an avid bike rider and walker who has fallen way short of being able to call myself an avid bike rider and walker.
Yes, I had a bit of a medical problem the other day and my darling daughter drove me to the doctor. To make a relevant point here, it seems that I had a couple related situations occurring that could have been prevented, or at least, lessened.
I have allergies, and a condition known as “allergic asthma”, or asthma caused by allergies, can occur in some people. How does exercise, or the lack thereof, affect this? Making your heart, lungs, and respiratory system strong by exercising can decrease or lessen episodes of “allergic asthma.” That’s the first point.
Then, because I made bad food and beverage choices (aka too much food, wine, and coffee), I had a bad case of “acid reflux” which, as they’re finding out now, will trigger an asthma episode.
So, I learned that the two problems, asthma and acid reflux, are connected AND trigger each other. While I’m just fine today, the lack of exercise and the poor eating/drinking habits contributed to my rather upsetting day, for both me and my, shall I say it again, darling daughter.
To make a long story short – too late! – I’m in! Thanks Nicole and team for getting me off my “computer butt.” 🙂 Lovies!
Patti (The Mom)

August 30, 2009 at 2:49 pmMom, you are a nut! Thank God for that. 🙂
So glad it wasn’t anything more serious.
We’ll check with Scott about your limited area to make sure you can follow his program in such a small space. k?

September 9, 2009 at 9:45 pmNo way – your mom talks to you on your blog! Pretty cool Nicole.
So, I was looking at some pictures of somebody who was supposed to be me at the NAMS workshop and I didn’t recognize that person. Had way too much hanging out in front.
And it’s really sad for me. You’ve met my wife – the soon-to-be triathlete who’s healthier at 53 than ever before in her life. So, I’m motivated more than usual to drop 30 pounds.
I’m joining this too… a few days late.

September 10, 2009 at 3:45 amRight on David! It’s great to connect with you and totally awesome to have you in the computer butt challenge.
It’s great to hear that your wife is very active and healthy. Just imagine what a team you will make when you become even more productive, energized, and healthy with the home office workouts.
Just picture how great the quality of life that you two will enjoy even 30 years from now because you are making the choice to place your health as a top priority now.
My 89 year old clients are my role models because they took charge of their health when they turned 80 and began training with me. Now they are enjoying activities in their 80’s that they wouldn’t imagine doing in their 60’s.
Nicole
September 10, 2009 at 5:49 amTHE Mr. David Perdew?! No way!
Well, you looked great to me, but I know how it feels to walk by the mirror or look at pictures and think “who’s that?”
It must be great to have a wife who inspires you on every level. I can tell you adore her, and she is a beautiful, talented lady, for sure.
You are welcome with open arms, but you’ve got to check in and let us know how you’re doing every day or I’ll track you down on Twitter. 😀

August 30, 2009 at 4:01 pmNicole,
I think you have gained a new follower. I’ve been following you on Twitter for a while from a friend’s suggestion.
I have worked out of my home since February and I have actually lost weight since I’ve been home but I’m still trying to burn off all of the 50 lbs I gained when I was pregnant with my two year old. While she is a busy body, she’s not very good at keeping me on a workout schedule so I think the companionship may help a lot in keeping me on target. 🙂

August 31, 2009 at 5:36 amI’m in Nicole! I may have a slow start since I had a nasty fall yesterday morning and it is a little hard to move today. I’m finding I don’t recover as quickly from falls as I did when I was 25 🙁
I have a good 50 – 60 lbs I would like to lose. Like you good thing I’m tall, almost 5’10 1/2″.
I had wanted to lose them before NAMs3, so this should work out well.
I have to wait til I get home from work to take my measurements, but I’ll be posting my progress.

Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
August 31, 2009 at 5:22 amWOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!
Nicole, you ROCK! This is going to be a blast. Thanks for helping ignite the spark with all your friends here. This is the beginning of a great journey that will be even more fun because we are sharing it together.
In addition to any prizes that you want to offer here Nicole, I also have a transformation contest that’s all apart of the Fat Loss Quickie program. I give away prizes every 21 days and grand prizes after 94 days. Here’s some of the prizes…
Video Magnetism (Carrie Wilkerson/Perry Lawrence)
Beginner to Blogger (Traci Knoppe)
Attraction Accelerator (Stephen Pierce)
Discover Freemind (Bob The Teacher)
Prograde Platinum Supplement package
The Diet Solution Program (Isabel De Los Rios)
I’m adding a weekly group check in call to the Fat Loss Quickie program so we can share this awesome journey over the phone as well as online.
On a side note, I don’t know many work-at-home-moms and dads that haven’t gained at least 30 pounds their first year of business. It even happened to me.
On another side note I used myself as a guinea pig and did an interesting self study recently. I changed nothing about my lifestyle other than adding two glasses of red wine with dinner (you know the typical recommendation for optimal health for men). Results… I gained 5 pounds in 30 days.
Yes there are health benefits to red wine, but I’m not willing to sacrifice some weight gain for it because it will eventually lead to other issues.
I still enjoy wine on occasion. We just bottled some 😉
I’m really looking forward to the cross blog conversations and to getting to know all my new friends here.
Thanks a million for making my day!
Scott Tousignant
PS (THE MOM) 😉 The nutrition changes should have a great impact on your allergies/asthma and the exercise will definitely help your lungs and heart. I’m really looking forward to getting you started.
PPS Monica, I totally enjoy the outdoors as well. I love getting out for bike rides and walks, and playing with the kids. I encourage you to incorporate some form of resistance training while outdoors. It will do wonders for your health and body.
Nicole
August 31, 2009 at 1:24 pmHey Scott,
How does everyone qualify for the prizes that you offer?
N
Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
August 31, 2009 at 5:50 amIt’s great to have you on board Mary. With regular exercise you will notice that your body heals faster because you are pumping fresh blood to the injured area at a much faster rate.
In terms of measurements, I’ve stopped doing that myself, but I know it can be a motivator for some. I prefer to put on a pair of tight jeans or swim suit and see how it feels and looks on me. I even take a picture so I can see the difference.
It’s never a number that I’m working toward or that will define my success. It’s appearance, strength, stamina, how it effects my business in terms of productivity and focus, how it effects the play time that I have with my kids with the increase in energy, and how it effects my overall quality and enjoyment of life.
You ROCK!

Cool idea, Nicole.

August 31, 2009 at 12:11 pmHey there Scott, Nicole, and Ya’ll!
Yes, I agree, that exercise can really improve all sorts of health issues, including “allergic asthma.” Strong lungs and a strong heart are one of my goals, so thank you for your support, All!
I just checked out the Monday session, and YES, I can do it in a small space, and YES, I’m in, even though, NO, I can not do a push up (yet) to save my soul!!! Ha! lmao!
Anyway, I’m a 55ish year old woman who bikes and has walked 3 marathons, but it doesn’t take long to get out of shape when you get lazy. I have weight to lose and muscles to build. So, here I am… Thanks Nicole and Scott and everyone! I’ll check in later and let you know how it goes for someone, as they say, “of a certain age.” 🙂
Gail
August 31, 2009 at 1:17 pmOK – Nicole and everyone who commented here! I’m dragging my computer butt into the game with ya. I don’t know; separation anxiety…can I spare 10 minutes away from the keyboard?!
Nicole
September 1, 2009 at 9:08 amWell, technically, you watch the videos ON the computer — and if you set your screensaver for every 2 minutes — you’d have to touch your keyboard a few times during the workout. 😀

August 31, 2009 at 12:21 pmMom… I can’t thank you enough for sharing your experiences with us all… by the way, I love the Remarkable Wrinklies site and would love to connect you with some great people and even share the adventures of my 89 year old clients.
In regards to the push ups, you can modify them by laying down on your tummy on the stability ball with your upper thighs resting on the ball and your hands placed on the floor. Then do the push up. It will reduce the amount of weight placed on the muscles involved in the push up.
I’ll be filming a video with a variety of exercises that can be substituted for easier versions of them.
I’m grateful to be sharing this journey with you.

August 31, 2009 at 1:31 pmHey Nicole and gang… the only qualifications for winning the prizes that I’ve listed above is being owning yourself a copy of the Fat Loss Quickie program.
The contest is judged on the transformation in fitness, business, and life. So I want to see how home office fitness is impacting your business (getting more done in less time, helping generate ideas and application of ideas, networking…), and life (more quality time with family, greater enjoyment out of life.)

August 31, 2009 at 3:40 pmThanks, Scott, for your kind remarks about my site, Remarkable Wrinklies. It’s a work in progress, but it’s a work I’m loving! I’d love to be able to hear some inspirational stories from folks who work out and live well way into their 80’s. That’s my goal… to live well for a long long long time. Good Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise, eh? Well, maybe with a whole lot more exercise and good food thrown in there, too! I’m up to the challenge! Just ordered my floor ball and a couple light dumbbells, so I’m ready, willing, and working on able. Thanks for the support, Scott and my wonderful Nicole!

September 1, 2009 at 12:43 amNicole, were you talking to me???
Just yesterday I was going through Scott’s free documents & trying to get myself motivated. The exercise is definitely do-able but just this morning I talked myself out of a walk. Great start!! I just need to get off my butt!!
I’ll be joining you from South Africa & I hope that having so many people to be accountable to, will keep me on track.
Thanks for this.

September 1, 2009 at 8:54 amHey Karen, how did you manage to talk yourself out of the walk? What took priority over it? Did you actually accomplish much during that 30 minute time period when you could have been walking, re-energizing yourself, allowing your head to clear, maybe even listen to an educational or motivational audio?
We’re here to rally behind you and help you become the super-focused, highly productive, beautiful person that you really are!

Nicole
September 1, 2009 at 3:07 pmHey Gail.
How much TV do you watch in a day? 🙂
Can you cut out 10 minutes of Twitter time to add 10 years to your life?
OUCH. Oh, yeah. I went there! lol.
Please join us, even if it’s just in a daily 15 minute walk to clear your head so you can focus better on your money-making stuff.
Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
September 1, 2009 at 8:42 pmHi Gail, that’s a great goal to have your business making money by NAMS. With the Fat Loss Quickie Transformation Contest you set goals in fitness, business, and life. This is a balanced approach… it’s not just weight loss that we are aiming for… in fact, weight loss is just an amazing secondary benefit.
Fitness will absolutely help boost your business in more ways than you can imagine. A 10 minute investment in your health will pay huge dividends over time.
You mention that you ‘really know that you would feel better if you dropped 40 pounds’… but do you ‘really know’? If you did, you wouldn’t allow any excuse or challenge or obstacle to get in your way. You would “JUST DO IT!”
It’s beyond just feeling better. It’s how it will completely and positively impact your business and life.
I guess the best miracle weight loss pill would be to bottle how different your life would be in a vibrant and healthy body and allow you to experience it for just one day… then take it away. I bet you would bend over backwards and be willing to do whatever it takes to get that all back because you would realize that all this time you’ve been robbing yourself of the quality of life that you deserve.
Many of the new members of the Fat Loss Quickie Experience have already paid for the program and more just by using their affiliate link and having 2 other people join. Heck… at 75% commission even one sign up comes close to paying for the program.
If you focus on the wealth component of getting in shape, and say that you promote the program through a review or documenting your journey on your blog… you would be more likely to sell more as an affiliate if you got great results on the program… so that would make you work hard to achieve great results because you want to prove to your followers that this is indeed a wise investment.
That’s what I’ve done multiple times with fitness programs that I’ve followed. I document my journey and I know that I will earn more if I try to achieve the best results possible. It’s a win/win/win because the people who purchase through your affiliate link will be getting a program that works too.
Don’t make the mistake of locking yourself in the basement in order to generate money for your online business. It’s this type of ‘out of balance’ living that often times leads to a downward spiral where you lose out on the things that really matter most to you.
Either way, we’re here to cheer you on and help you get your business earning money prior to NAMS and help you adopt a healthier lifestyle no matter what methods you choose.
You deserve the best that life has to offer.

Definitely lots of butts shrinking this fall… and I haven’t even told them about the amazing incentives to shrink their butts yet.
Just wait until I reveal the cool prizes that can be won for shrinking your computer butt 😉

September 16, 2009 at 1:40 pmLots of people are interested! That’s totally awesome. It’s really hard to stay in shape when most of your waking hours are spent sitting on a computer chair!
If only we’d all *get up* every 20 minutes and do some exercises…

September 17, 2009 at 2:44 pmBest to you, Nicole!
I’ll be cheering you on!
Sorry I can’t join you in the challenge, because I fail at the “Computer Butt” category.
Though working a few hours a day online, I keep in shape by running 5 miles a day 5+ days a week, and workout, do some weight training as well.
At my age, I need to keep going so I don’t fall down at 50! LOL
Love your work!
