Motivational Monday: Failure is Guaranteed

Hey guys. Welcome to the 2nd Motivational Monday. I've gotta tell you, I'm LOVING this and I hope you are, too.

Today is about failure.

Watch this video and then tell me what you think.

Let's translate this to business.

You will fall on your face. If not, you're not trying hard enough.

In fact, if you listen to my Success Casts (free), one of the questions that I ask every successful online business owner is “What is one time you've fallen down and had to get back up?”

Pretty much every single one of them has said “I have to choose just one mistake?” ๐Ÿ˜‰

Scott Tousignant filed bankruptcy before starting his online business.

Shannon Cherry fell off a stage during a speech!

And, I've had busts. Big huge stinky disappointments, over the years I've beenย in business.

Failure is not an option. It's a guarantee.

So, fail fast and fail often. It shows you're in the game and you're giving your best!

((hugs))

You say Watch this video and then tell me what you think.

I say – I’m completely and totally in love with that man.

OH! You wanted to talk about business? LOL Alright!

I’ve heard this message a lot lately and you know what it does for me – it gives me hope. It tells me I am on the right track. It tells me to just keep plugging forward.

And I thank anyone who has succeeded for coming forward with this message. Because there was a time when people who had succeeded wouldn’t dare admit to anything less than exemplary. You know?

Ugh, the first failure is always the hardest. We tend to take that first one personally and it can be a big deterrent to trying something new. Dust off your shoes and try again! Eventually the pieces fall into place and that first failure doesn’t seem like such a big deal anymore.

Lisa Mary is spot on. I had to watch the video a second time before I even listened. lol

Seriously, it’s a brilliant ad. And its message is one we need to take to heart, and pass along to our kids.

My first internet failure was when I hired someone to write a script for me, installed it on my website, and totally crashed the entire IP address. Looking back, I can’t believe my webhost didn’t fire me as a customer!

I had my 12 year old perfectionist (takes after his mama) son watch it with me.

I want him to know that perfect isn’t our goal, because it means that we’re playing scared and safe. You can’t be perfect if you’re truly pushing yourself. They’re in direct competition of one another.

Great video Nicole! Wasn’t it Thomas Edison who failed something like 1000 times before making one of the most amazing inventions ever? Imagine if he was afraid of failure, we might still be in the dark, of not have computers – who knows.

I have another video coming that does mention him. It’s hard waiting until the next Monday to roll around. Too much good stuff out there that needs to be in front of eyeballs! ๐Ÿ˜€

Yep… failure sure is a guarantee. As much as it can hurt in the moment, it’s all worth it in the end… if you learn from that failure.

One of my mentors JP Micek told me “Loss is part of the game”…in regards to failure & success. I love it!

JP also told me, “How can an expert truly help someone if they haven’t failed themselves.”

In regards to my bankruptcy JP told me, “It’s a rebirth instead of a death sentence”, and I couldn’t agree more.

I definitely got goose bumps when I watched the video that you shared with us today. It’s amazing how people take notice of all your failures, but neglect to see that those failures have made you the success that you are today.

I have to agree with you on how people take notice of the failures. I have family who’ve seen many of my business ventures as big failures and still want me to go back and get a nice ‘safe’ job so I don’t keep failing!

Honestly, it took me SO much gumption to get over my fear of failure and take risks that I am DAMNED proud of my failures! They are badges of honor to me, because I was playing puny and scared at first.

      That ends here. ๐Ÿ™‚

    oooowwwww… Michael Jordan….. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hear ya, Lisa!

Oh, Nicole, you wanted responses to the MESSAGE? Alrighty then. ๐Ÿ˜€

“I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed.”

Them’s some mighty powerful words, alright! Like Angela said, sometimes the people closest to us can be so critical and not very understanding or supportive. I think that’s what makes “failure” harder than it has to be.

I saw George Foreman on a news story the other day talking about how he failed so miserably so many times until his grill thingy took off. And now he’s sold more than 1 million grills. His message was that you’ve got to fake it until you make it when you’re trying to sell yourself or an idea. In the ring, he had to fake that those punches to his stomach didn’t hurt in order to gain momentum and win a fight.

I figure people who have never failed at something have never tried anything new. Nicole can attest to some of my cooking disasters. Well, out of some of those disasters came some pretty good recipes. Live and learn. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Oh, mom! lol.

I’m actually reviewing George’s new book, as soon as the publisher gets it to me. I’ll let you know if it’s any good.

And, to your last paragraph, I have two words for you:

      Ginger & Cheese

      (oops! Threw up a little there… )

      LOVE YOU MOM!

oh yea… that was nasty. What ever possessed me to put cheese on a ginger-soy-Asian type dish??? That was a cruel joke to be sure. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ oops… I just threw up a little in my mouth, too.

And you know, as long as you don’t keep making the same mistakes over and over and over again, failing for the same reasons, you’re moving forward. So, it’s all good. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yayy! It’s always nice to hear that even in the midst of what feels like the worst times in business I’m doing ok and actually making progress.

As you know Nik, I’ve made some big mistakes throughout the years, but it won’t hold me back and the words “I Give” or “Uncle” are never an option for me!
