Smoke Detectors Don’t Work (on kids)
I just watched a very disturbing video about how Smoke Detectors may be completely ineffective with children, and I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I didn't share it with you.
PLEASE watch this video. I know I'll be talking with my kids tonight, after seeing it.

March 9, 2007 at 8:21 amI got this comment in email and thought it was great information. Thank you, Kimberly!
Hi, Nicole! I saw a TV special on this several years ago, when my kids were very little. They are now 5, 4 and 7 months. I invested in a smoke detector that I was able to record my own voice on. When the smoke detector goes off, it is very loud, but it also has my voice yelling to the kids directions… ours currently says to stay where they are, that mommy and daddy are coming for them. We didn’t want them running for us and us passing each other somehow! The special I watched showed that children are more likely to wake up to their parent’s voice than anything else! Anyway, I thought you may be interested in knowing there is a great product to help children realize what’s going on! It is truly amazing what my own children sleep through! 😉
Have a blessed day,
Kimberly

March 15, 2007 at 10:15 amNicole, the link you have posted above for the kidsmsart detector is EXACTLY the one we have! It is much cheaper now, and at $20, it’s a great investment! I think I paid close to $60 when it originally came out! Since we have three children now, I may invest in another! Thank you for the link!

March 20, 2007 at 5:13 amThis has happened to us- we were at a hotel with our 4 children(ages 13,9, 7, 5 at the time) a couple of years ago and the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. Incredibly loud, and with flashing lights. NONE of my four children awoke! When we asked them about it the next day the oldest said he heard it but didn’t think much about it and went back to sleep. The others didn’t wake up at all.
