Day 4: Lose Belly Fat Quick with Fat Loss Quickie
Welcome to Day 4 of the Lose Belly Fat Quickly/Computer Butt Challenge. (<– If you're just joining us, click here to see what this is all about and what it has to do with Internet Marketing.)
If you're not signed up yet for the daily “quickie exercises”, join us by clicking the graphic below:
So, what does all of this have to do with our work and with productivity? I asked Fat Loss Quickie Scott for some research, so he sent me this today:
Here's a quote from a study on 200 desk workers…
Professor McKenna found that those who built exercise into their work day experienced positive effects on their productivity. Exercise helped to re-energise and improve their concentration, as well as making them feel calmer and more able to solve problems.
This work builds on the large volume of research being conducted in the Active Lifestyles research centre at Leeds Met.
I guess when our bodies are slugs — our brains are, too.
According to the comments left on the blog the last few days, I know that several of us here have already started experiencing the effects of this – by reporting better clarity and in GETTING MORE DONE!
So, kick it!
Be sure to check in here today with your progress, concerns, and feedback. Scott's been AMAZING at helping us all through this first week. I know that'll make the difference to help us all stick through this first month so we can get totally hooked on the results and make this a life-long habit.
As my friend, Aileen Bennett, says – It doesn't take 21 days to develop a habit. It takes one moment when you commit to the change.
For instance, how many new smokers do you see coughing up a lung, saying “only 20 more days until I'm committed to smoking”? That's just silly. Why should a good habit be any different than a bad one?
In fact, I'll invite her over here to comment on that one. 🙂 She's actually one of the reasons why I'm committed to this challenge. I want to buy one of her ‘Be You: You are Amazing' shirts, but they run small so I have to shrink a bit to get one and have it look CUTE on me! Aileen – you hear that? You influenced me, too! (Shout out to Aileen!)
All right guys. Let's find 10 minutes today to get healthier so we can enjoy the LIFESTYLE that we're working towards.
((hugs)) to all.
Nicole
PS. Post your progress, concerns, videos, audios, and cross-blog posts in the comments below.

September 3, 2009 at 9:14 amDay 4 huh? Well I have noodle arms, but am feeling great. I think I have gotten more writing done this week than all summer! It really has gotten me motivated and moving!
Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
September 3, 2009 at 3:58 pmRight ON Judi! That makes me so happy to hear that. And to think that you are just getting started. Trust me… it keeps getting better (focus, productivity, energy).
I am so honored to be in the company of so many amazing homepreneurs. You all totally ROCK!
Nicole
September 3, 2009 at 4:02 pmOh wow! I didn’t realize you did it this morning already.
Proud of you! Can’t wait to see our incomes GROW as our waistlines SHRINK!
Yay us!
Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
September 3, 2009 at 4:15 pmLove that! “Incomes GROW as our waistlines SHRINK!”
I also like shrinking your bottom while increasing your bottom line.

September 3, 2009 at 7:39 pmYayy! That’s AWESOME to hear Judi. 🙂 Keep it up girl.

I am always delighted to be mentioned by you. Makes me look cool and intelligent to have friends like Nicole Dean.
It’s strange, I have been writing about the same subject for next weeks column (a communication column in my local paper) and am currently getting back into the working-out groove myself.(Great minds must think alike)
As for the whole habit thing. We read about it taking 21 or 30 days to create a habit and believe it. It doesn’t take that long to create a bad habit so why would it apply to good habits? I love to question what I read and ask “does that apply to me?” – the answer will often surprise you. As Judi mentions above if we workout each day, it often has a knock-on effect to other things in our lives. We ask a lot of our bodies, sometimes its good to give something back.
Keep it up everyone, you deserve it.

September 3, 2009 at 4:00 pmThis is a message that needs to get out to the masses. I absolutely love it!
“As my friend, Aileen Bennett, says – It doesn’t take 21 days to develop a habit. It takes one moment when you commit to the change.”
Aileen, if you’re ever up for a guest blog post at Fat Loss Quickie, I’d love to help you spread this message.
Time for me to check out more of your stuff. Love that T-shirt quote, and love that it’s getting Nicole to want to shrink to fit into it 😉

September 3, 2009 at 4:02 pmAlright, kick my computer butt now.
I just didn’t make time today and my boyfriend is coming over for an anniversary ‘dinner and date’ so I just don’t want to go gettin all sweaty before he comes over. Ran out of time today but I’m going to do day 4 AND 5 tomorrow. Since they’re so quick I know I can do it.
Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
September 3, 2009 at 4:07 pmWhoa, whoa, whoa… you can do day 4 tomorrow Angela. Don’t worry about trying to catch up. There’s 7 days in a week. Use today as a day off and just take one day off instead of two. You’ll be all caught up with us when we begin on day 8.
It sure was great chatting with you during today’s Fat Loss Quickie accountability call. I’m looking forward to holding you accountable to just one small treat each day.
I love your positive energy, zest for life, and enthusiasm. I am grateful that our paths have crossed.
Nicole
September 3, 2009 at 4:09 pmSilly girl. Just do OTHER exercise tonight for your anniversary.
ooh la la! 😉

Nicole
September 3, 2009 at 3:06 pmWell, the workout/resistance part was not bad at all. My abs are hurting and my legs are tired, but it was nice and short.
Off to have a snack and then I’m up for cardio. Cue scary music…
Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
September 3, 2009 at 4:03 pmHow have you been without wine Nicole? What have you been substituting it with?
My abs are cramping up on me today. That home office abs video that you see on my blog had to be refilmed 4 times for a total of 40 minutes of abs. Now I don’t have to do abs for a year 😉
First I didn’t turn the camera on. Then the battery died on my flip and I didn’t notice, then my mother in law came pounding on the door, then I finally finished on the fourth try.
Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
September 3, 2009 at 4:04 pmOh ya… I’m sure not expecting any sympathy from any of you 😉 hehe
Nicole
September 3, 2009 at 4:12 pmI’ve been ok without wine actually.
Just had to decrease the number of neighbor kids in the house and it was pretty easy to give up! 😀
Nicole
September 3, 2009 at 3:47 pmpant.. pant…
breathe… breathe…
That was a long 8 minutes, Scott!
Whew. You are the King of effective use of my exercise time.
Off to wipe off sweat.
Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
September 3, 2009 at 4:05 pmSeriously though… isn’t it amazing how effective a workout can be in just 8 minutes?
Makes you wonder what people are doing spending an hour in the gym.
Nicole
September 3, 2009 at 4:11 pmYeah, those bums. 😀
Probably reading a magazine in the sauna or something. lol!
Arika Lewis
September 3, 2009 at 7:42 pmGreat job girl! You are such an inspiration! Keep it up because you thought you’d come a long way already…you just wait! We’ve still got a long way to go and we’re gonna make it!
Nicole
September 3, 2009 at 3:53 pmTrying to track everyone down by Twitter. If I miss you, let me know. I couldn’t find everyone’s Twitter IDs.
Nicole
September 3, 2009 at 4:10 pmScott –
Speaking of days off – when are they?
Are we doing a month straight of this since you’re alternating muscle groups or…
See why I don’t have a job? I’m asking about time off and a week hasn’t even gone by! 😉
Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
September 3, 2009 at 4:12 pmhehe… Day 6 and 7 are days of rest. You can go for a bike ride or walk on one of those days but it’s very important to take at least one day for your body to recover.
Arika Lewis
September 3, 2009 at 7:44 pmWell it looks like my day off was today – so I’ll be doing 2 cardios tomorrow to catch up.
I figure since I’m only doing the cardio for now anyway it wouldn’t hurt right?
I did it for Days 1 & 2…is it ok?
Lisa Marie Mary
September 3, 2009 at 5:21 pmNot the best day for me, I’m afraid. The pollen level here is high and we had a cloudy start to our day – all adding up to yet another migraine for me. Argh. Trying not to get discouraged here. I rather enjoy my upbeat attitude.
Tomorrow we have an away football game that is 1 1/2 hours away (all 3 kids involved in band, along with hubby and I, too – and we have TONS of fun doing it!) so I am ordering my head to be good!!
And so – since it IS going to be good – I hereby publicly pledge to exercise tomorrow morning. So there.
Clouds, pollen, migraine be darned! It’s gettin’ old already!
I love that you keep pulling me in here, though, Nicole – that SO SUPER ROCKS – I can’t even tell you! Thank you. It’s helping to keep my head in the game. And just plain makes me feel good, too.
Nicole
September 4, 2009 at 6:58 amI’m sorry the weather isn’t cooperating for your Lisa!
Do you have professional-grade air filters for your furnace & an air filter for your office? It could help. We have bad allergies, too, so I’m contantly washing sheets and changing air filters, etc, here, too.
Hope you feel better and can join us today!
Danielle Miller
September 3, 2009 at 5:36 pmchecking in:-) did my 5 mile “loop” today…we live in a very rural area, so that’s like around the block for me!
I LOVE the idea of working out for 10 minutes Scott, I sometimes have to remind myself to “move away from the computer”! For me, though, that 5 mile run is MY TIME…I get to think things through, reflect, meditate, etc. I try to incorporate things like walking lunges (boy does THAT get some strange looks from the Amish in their buggies when they pass me…LOL) and our roads are very hilly, which is a great interval strategy.
Interesting talking about what Aileen said about “takes a moment to make a change” Tony Robbins talks about that a lot and how you can change your state in an instant(which is very true).
Also wanted to comment about another study. It has been proven that water boosts energy levels, increases focus and productivity because of they way it hydrates your brain….so drink up gang!
Finally,:-) I am posting a recipe on my blog that is one of favorite healthy breakfast meals..baked oatmeal. I can’t stomach (haha) the texture of oatmeal, so I tweaked this recipe so it is a much firmer texture than traditional oatmeal, it makes enough that you can fridge it and heat it up and it’s a quick, filling breakfast + it’s healthy and GOOD! I’m heading over to write that post after this one (sorry for taking up so much of your space, sweetie girl!)
Anyway you can check it out here: Baked Oatmeal. I think you’ll really enjoy it:-)
Hugs,
Danielle

September 3, 2009 at 6:32 pmHey Danielle, great post. Yes water is key. In fact dehydration is 80% responsible for fatigue.
For me, it’s the bike ride that I use as my ME time and meditation time. I do my 10 minute quickies in addition to that.
Cardio is great, but resistance training is much more important, especially when it comes to things like bone density, metabolism, and muscle maintenance. Make sure that you incorporate it into your fun and active lifestyle.
Nicole
September 4, 2009 at 7:01 amScott,
I walked a marathon back in ’99 and was still heavier than I wanted to be when I crossed the finish line – after six months of training.
Once I incorporated resistance training, the lbs just fell off. I was hooked forever then.
Well, except for not doing any forms of exercise for the past 6 years! lol.
Susanne
September 3, 2009 at 5:42 pmI am sore all-over, but otherwise loved the workout today. Feeling better tonight after moving around a bit though. Slowly convincing my body that I can do this on a regular daily basis. Glad to hear we have two days off.. feel like we’re back in school (Does that mean we get Monday off too Scott – just kidding).
Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
September 3, 2009 at 6:33 pmAbsolutely loving your blog posts and feedback Susanne. You are absolutely amazing.
Be sure to check out Susanne’s blog post for today gang and leave your comments.

September 4, 2009 at 7:02 amI don’t know if Scott got the joke. He’s in Canada! lol.
Scott, schools are out in Monday due to Labor Day here. 🙂
Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
September 4, 2009 at 7:10 amYep, got the joke even though I’m Canadian eh? We actually celebrate Labour Day here too.
Oh, and my home office workouts are done in my igloo too 😉

September 3, 2009 at 5:26 pmOw, my arms and chest hurt! And to think I’ve only been lifting cans of beans, LOL!
Well, I have to tell you, each workout is the longest 10 minutes of my life. But today, when I was doing the (eh, I forget exactly what it’s called) arm exercises, my mind suddenly cleared and thought popped into my head: “I can do this. I will do this!”
Yesterday, I was all whiny while doing the exercises. But today, I felt challenged and I feel up to it.
Can’t wait for tomorrow – gasp, did I actually say that?
Arika Lewis
September 3, 2009 at 7:46 pmGood girl! Work through the pain and keep on truckin’ toward the positive goals! 🙂

September 4, 2009 at 6:58 amWOO HOO! Go girl!
Erica Cosminsky
September 3, 2009 at 8:04 pmWow! I am so glad to see everyone is doing so well.
I’m very encouraged. (Scott) I have done the alt. leg exercises twice today. I had to go buy a ball yesterday so I didn’t get to do it yesterday but I was able to do most of the moves (some of them slowly.) I actually have really strong legs but the arthritis in my knee makes my knee grind and lock. When I did the elevated leg curl my knee locked in a weird position and I ended up on my back in the floor (but I stuck with it) and I was able to do the horizontal squat you said would be difficult quite easily.
I guess the biggest thing I need to be held accountable for is remembering to take my omega 3s and amino acids. I am terrible about forgetting them and I can’t leave them sitting out because my two year old is 45 inches tall and can reach them if I leave them where I will remember them. I have had a synvisc shot 4 times because basically I don’t do the daily thing to increase the fluid in my knee.
But as I said I am encouraged. I have a new client as of today and managed to get my office cleaned up with all this energy I’ve found.
Thanks
Erica
Scott Tousignant - Fat Loss Quickie
September 4, 2009 at 6:53 amHey Erica. Great to see that you picked up a ball.
Arthritis isn’t fun, but the best thing that you can do is keep moving those joints even if it is uncomfortable.
Also great to see that you are consuming Omega 3’s. I’ll hold you accountable to that. They do wonders for my joints. I personally use Krill Oil capsules from http://www.FatLossQuickie.com/prograde.php
Congrats on the new client! Great to see that your new energy is already having an impact.
By the way, the positive energy from this group sure contributes to the physical energy that we experience throughout the day.
Looking forward to getting to know you better in the Fat Loss Quickie support community Erica and during the weekly accountability calls.
Nicole
September 4, 2009 at 7:06 amBIG Congrats, Erica. I know it’s not fun being in pain and it makes the challenge even harder, but also more important.
Do you have a Twitter ID? I can’t find you on Twitter and want to harrass you — uh… I mean remind you there. 🙂
Erica Cosminsky
September 4, 2009 at 7:36 amLOL. It’s twitter.com/Cosminsky.
It’s under my other email.
I am following both of you if that makes it easier.

September 4, 2009 at 7:11 amHA! I was thinking the same thing 🙂
The Mom
September 3, 2009 at 6:28 pmoh Lord… I ‘fessed up on Arika’s blog, so I suppose I have to here as well.
I waited until 7:30 tonight to do my exercises, and then I did them back to back. 🙁 Forgive me? I guess all day today I missed the whole point, and the more I sat on my computer butt, the more the point of FatLossQuickie started to fade from my brain. There I was, in a computer butt stupor. It wasn’t pretty.
So, here I am at Nicole’s house, done with my exercises, ready to eat dinner, go home, and start all over again. I’ll be better tomorrow, I promise.
Oh, and I LOVED LOVED LOVED today’s workout. It was so goofy. My granddaughter stood in the doorway and laughed at me. Poor me. 🙁
L8R!

September 3, 2009 at 6:35 pmThe power of this group, the support, and accountability is truly tremendous.
Hurray for you mom! I’m so incredibly proud of you. Nothing wrong with a computer butt stupor if you can overcome it and still do the workout.
You are such a positive role model for your grandchildren and to all of us. For that I am eternally grateful to you.
Arika Lewis
September 3, 2009 at 7:50 pmHey the point is you DID it – who cares if it’s at 7:30 in the morning or the evening.
I ditto Scott – this is AMAZING and so are you!

September 3, 2009 at 7:58 pmYea Scott I know…I’m known as the “Cardio Queen” at the local gym:-) The guy who owns it is a dear friend of mine and he is after me constantly about doing more weight training!

September 3, 2009 at 7:43 pmahhh… 🙂 Thanks Scott. I’m touched by your kind words. Don’t make an ol’ lady cry now… 😉
Really, this has been a very big boost in my days and my health, so I thank you, Scott, and all you great computer butts out there! I’m really looking forward to the next exercises, sort of like being spoon fed very slowly, always wanting the next taste. hmmm… that’s the method to your madness, eh? I figured it out! 🙂
Thanks again Scott and everyone!
Oh, and by the way, ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch, but it’s a good ouch. 🙂
I’ll be checking in tomorrow. This accountability stuff is like work.
