When People Copy your Blog Posts… Smile!

Hey guys.

If you write a great blog post, people will share it.

Unfortunately… even your biggest fans rarely click the “Share” buttons and instead many will use the good ol' copy & paste buttons.

That used to stink, because they would run off with your content and you would get nothing in return. But now, that's changed.

In fact, as you will see, people are welcome to copy and paste my content into Facebook, email, or even forums as much as they want now – thanks to a new plugin that I've been using on this blog for a few weeks.

Here's a quick video (3 minutes) that shows you how this plugin can help you to get more traffic from your fans.

(Click on the image below to play the very short video.)

If you want to grab this plugin, check it out here

If you don't feel like watching the video, you can understand the gist by reading the sales page at the link above.

What exactly does this plugin do?

Basically, when people copy and paste your content to share via email or Facebook or even on forums, the plugin magically adds a link to your blog inside the pasted text.

Go ahead and try it.

Copy and paste part of this blog post into Facebook to see it in action. I don't mind one bit. 😉

Warmly,
Nicole Dean

I adore comments! Please share your thoughts.

Awww. Thanks, Debbie! Videos aren’t my strong suit, but, I figure I’m really good at one thing – keeping them short! 😉

Appreciate you taking the time to make me smile.

Very cool indeed! Thanks for the share. I’ve copy/pasted some of your text to my Facebook biz page, and voila! Works like a charm and I’m happy to share it with my peeps.

It is slick. I love it. 🙂

Sometimes the best things in live are the simplest. I like this much better than disabling people from being able to copy. Let them…. as long as my link tags along. 😉

This looks great. When I copy a post on my blog, I always include the author and web address. This would shortcut the process. I was wondering if you knew if the plugin worked on the Empower network blog? Not all plugins do.
    Thanks again for sharing.

      Hey Liz.

I have no idea about the Empower blogs. I’m sorry. There is a link to contact support on the bottom of that page. Ask before you buy. 🙂

      Hope that helps!

Thanks for the tip and the video! One thing that I have gotten in the habit of doing is being sure to add an internal link in my blog posts, if you get scraped, at least you have a link pointing back to your website. The Yoast SEO plugin also drops a credit and link at the end of your RSS feeds which is totally cool. Thanks!

      SMART! 🙂

One time, a few years ago, I found a lady who was copying and pasting my blog posts onto her site and putting her name on them. The funny part was that my affiliate links were all still in the posts. Weird. I didn’t quite know what to make of that one. lol.

      Thanks Shannon. Great points.

Wow Nicole that is a great thing to have on a blog or website. I need to get this when I get my site up and running which is not easy for me since I’m new to this. But I think this is a great plugin. Thanks Nicole.

    Hi Nicole,

Thank you very much for sharing this cool plugin with us. First time I’ve ever seen something like this. Definitely worth implementing into my blog… and at the price they’re offering it at, can’t beat that 🙂

    Hey Nicole,
Thanks! I got this based on your recommendation.

It really does work! I was updating my Amazon profile and grabbed a few paragraphs from my own website. “Imagine my surprise” when at the end of my profile, I saw “to read the rest of this post . . .” LOL

    Cheers, Anita

lol. You found the one drawback to the plugin, Anita.

When I copy from my own blog into reports and into new posts – I have to keep an eye out for that. 🙂

Great plugin! Me being me, I went to a bunch of the sites mentioned in the sales video just to test if they were really using it lol.

I like… very much! Just bought myself a copy via your link. It’s so cool that you get the developers license with it too!

Thank you for bring this to our attention.

This looks like a great tool. I’m wondering though, what’s to keep people from just deleting the link that gets added to what they copied?

      Hi Beth,
Nothing prevents that, but I think the idea is that people who are not paying attention (including people who are recklessly stealing content to populate their own spammy sites) won’t always notice it.

And the good guys either won’t mind, or they’ll reword it a bit to give you proper acknowledgement.

      HTH,

    Hi Nicole,

Wow, that’s a great plugin to use on your blog. There are a lot of people who steal content from blogs, and use it on their on sites without giving any credit.

Does it have any tracking or analytics features to see how many people copied content from your website. How many links did you get with this plugin installed, just curious to know.

    Have a great day Nicole.

Just kidding. Great Post Nicole and thanks for the plug-in.

I’m still wondering when we’re going to meet since I’m in Pensacola too.

Thanks for this post Nicole. The install was easy – no need to pay extra for someone to do it for you. Gotta say I didn’t like their “in your face” marketing style, and always trying to squeeze more out of me along the way.

Have you tried any of their other products?

I’m signed up, but not sure yet if I’m going. My daughter leaves for college in the middle of August so I’m feeling a little clingy. Not sure if I want to give up those precious few days. Of course, all she want to do is shop if I’m at home 🙂
