Zig Ziglar on Setting Goals & Favorite Zig Quotes.
As you've probably heard, legendary hero Zig Ziglar passed away today.
Inspiration to so many… such a loss.
I found a video series on YouTube on Goal Setting that I'm enjoying. I wanted to share with you. First, though, I'd like to share my favorite quotes from Zig, and, of course, some of his training on Amazon.
My 15 Favorite Zig Ziglar Quotes.
1. I believe that being successful means having a balance of success stories across the many areas of your life. You can't truly be considered successful in your business life if your home life is in shambles.
2. People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing – that's why we recommend it daily.
3. People don't buy for logical reasons. They buy for emotional reasons.
4. You cannot climb the ladder of success dressed in the costume of failure.
5. You do not pay the price of success, you enjoy the price of success.
6. Expect the best. Prepare for the worst. Capitalize on what comes.
7. A goal properly set is halfway reached.
8. Failure is a detour, not a dead-end street.
9. Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.
10. Remember that failure is an event, not a person.
11. If you can dream it, you can achieve it.
12. Money isn't the most important thing in life, but it's reasonably close to oxygen on the “gotta have it” scale.
13. Statistics suggest that when customers complain, business owners and managers ought to get excited about it. The complaining customer represents a huge opportunity for more business.
14. People who have good relationships at home are more effective in the marketplace.
15. Success is dependent upon the glands – sweat glands.
Awesome, right? I agree. 🙂

It’s bittersweet – hard to imagine that we’re done hearing new things from him here on earth. But wonderful to know he’s up there in heaven to be caught up with later 🙂

November 28, 2012 at 10:41 pmWhat a great inspiration! Some Ziglarisms have become a part of culture and are so often repeated their meaning can sometimes be lost. Reading these famous quotes, many with direct implications to the business leader and entrepreneur, is an inspiration. So are the videos. Thanks for sharing!

November 29, 2012 at 6:17 amI think the fact that Zig is now gone will make his words even more valuable. He shared such wisdom and often with such humor that the things he said not only make sense, they stick with us. That’s a rare gift.

November 29, 2012 at 10:05 pmThis man, Zig Ziglar was definitely an inspiration to millions.
I always enjoyed listening to his material as somewheres in his message he always left you feeling as if he cared about you personally. I believe he did care about everyone he spoke to and his goal was to change everyone’s life he touched in a positive way.
I have a set of cds on goal setting and it is awesome. Here is a quote from an online article which I would like to share with you all:
From the New American:
Throughout his more than 40-year career, during which he gained a reputation as the world’s top motivator, Ziglar emphasized the theme that was key to his own success: “You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” During a 2002 interview he said that such a philosophy “works in your personal life, your physical life. It works in corporate America. It works in government. It works everywhere.”
RIP Zig Ziglar say hi to Jim Rohn for us

November 30, 2012 at 9:27 amI like the second, third and seventh most. Great sense of humour 🙂
Also, knowing how to create emotion in people is an essential attribute of a successful businessman / seller.
Thanks for sharing these awesome quotes.
Now, I’m off to watching his goal setting videos!

December 1, 2012 at 11:24 amToday is the memorial service for Zig Ziglar.
I will always remember this man with great fondness. He changed my life. Though we never met, I consider him my friend and mentor. I appreciate how he lived his calling and demonstrated it with impeccable excellent character.
In today’s culture there are many men who are great salesmen, or great speakers, but Zig was all that and a great man – a life not littered with indiscretions and self-motivated indulgences.
Thank you Mr. Ziglar for a life well lived. Thank you for your words of instruction and motivation. I will…see you at the top.

December 4, 2012 at 3:12 pmI think #15 should be #1. Just to remind us all that success does take some hard work at times! But they are all excellent! SYATT, Zig!

December 6, 2012 at 4:58 amHey Nicole,
I’ve just ‘lucked in’ …long story … ‘nother day…. on the Zig topic …I’m from a great life in sales/marketing …. & I could stand correcting ,but …was it Zig who said “sell the sizzle … not the steak”?? … there was a story around it, from his experience, which illustrated the point beautifully – and consequently it stuck with me!!
Stories are the key … boiled down it was simply ‘benefits’ in relation to ‘features’ … but the story sealed the deal!
Cheers from Aus. …Doug …
P.S. : Perhaps it was Frank Betger …”How I Raised Myself from Failure to Success in Selling”…..it’s a bit late @ night here … over the years I’ve learned from so many … D …

December 11, 2012 at 8:53 amI had the great opportunity while training at Zig Ziglar corporation in the 1980s to have lunch with him. Truly inspiring. Sad he is physically gone but as you prove here, his wisdom lives on.
