I found this video back in September 2009 and I enjoyed it so much that I copied it over to save in my blog. I had it saved in my hundreds of drafts and just rediscovered it today.

It continues to “wow” me.

One of my most favorite sayings that I repeat to myself on a daily basis is

“The days are long but the years are short.”

I wish I knew who to credit it to.

That simple 9 word sentence reminds me to avoid letting the “feel” of having endless time during the day allow me to watch years pass by without having made the biggest and BEST impact upon those around me possible.

How are you using your milliseconds today to make an impact on those around you? What are you doing today to make the web and the world a better place?

And, at every moment of the day, remember to ask yourself “Is this the best use of my time right now?”

For instance:

• If you're sitting on the floor playing peek-a-boo with your toddler, the answer is a resounding “YES”.
• If you're working on something that directly makes you money, the answer is probably “yes”.
• If you're wandering aimlessly on YouTube, Facebook, or are playing Farmville, the answer may be “no”.

Regrets suck. At the end of my life, I hope to have as few as I possibly can.

The #2 most common roadblock in this discussion –
http://nicoleonthenet.com/2007/whats-stopping-you/ seems to be TIME. The one thing that we can not make more of.

Now, I am certainly NOT an expert in time management. In fact, some days, I run around like a crazy woman, myself. However, here are a few things I have learned that have saved me oodles of time.

1. Freezer cooking. (Sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it?)
If you've never tried freezer cooking or once a month cooking, you must. My rationale is that it takes me about the same time to make 8 lasagnas as it does 1, so why not make 8 and put 7 of them into the
freezer?

Unfortunately, I subscribe to Once a Month Cleaning, too, but… we don't need to get into THAT! eek!

2. The other thing I'm really trying to do is create a list of 6 things every morning that I want to accomplish. And, three of them have to be directly connected to money-making activities. (Not answering emails or learning, but actual money time.) So far it's working. I know that, if I start my day by doing ONE thing that will make me money, then I can relax and go through anything else that needs to be done.

3. The third thing I've been doing more of is Outsourcing. As much as I'd like to do it all myself, I know it's not possible anymore with the size of my business. So, I have helpers (who are amazing!) and help me from going from the “mostly-sane” mom that I am to a “totally-nuts mom”.

This is an issue we discuss in depth at MomMasterminds –
and it's one part of my job that I don't enjoy at all – but I do it because it is vital to my business.

Whether you are with Direct Sales or you own your site, testing and tracking a very important issue. It's important, because you need to know what is working for you and also know what is a waste of your time and money.

With Direct Sales, you can test and track in a number of ways. If you promote with advertising or fillers, put a promotional code on your ad. Try a few different codes to see which one is the most effective.

For instance —
“Mention MomPacks.com and Get Free Shipping”
or
“Mention MomPacks.com and Get a Free Gift”
or
“Say that you found us at MomPacks.com and get 2 for the price of 1!”

That way you'll know whether that method of advertising is working for you — by how many people say “I saw your filler in MomPacks – and by which offer draws the best response.” Easy!

Also, any time you get a new customer or lead, simply ask “How did you hear about us?” It definitely shows you where your advertising efforts are paying off.

If you own your own site, you can use a free program called www.statcounter.com. I use the free version on several of my smaller sites. All I had to do was insert a small bit of code into my pages and it shows how my visitors find my sites (search
engines or referrals), how long they stay, and how many pages they look at.

I'm sure you can envision how useful this information is for me. Sometimes, though, I just laugh at the search terms that people use to find my site. Crazy things!

Once you start tracking, you'll see where you can save time and money — and that's a good thing.
