Hey Awesome.

My good friend, Kelly McCausey, is running a very cool program over the summer, in which you are encourage and guided to Keep It Simple and create three simple reports. One to use as a free giveaway to grow your list, one to sell, and one to put on Kindle.

I did a quick walk-through video for you of the program so you can check it out and see if it's something you want to achieve over the summer.

If this is a definite YES for you, jump in here:
Yes, I want it, Nik!

If you're still not sure, let me ask you these questions…

1. When is the right time to start building your list? (Now.)

2. Why over-complicate things? (This is simple and it works.)

3. Do you have something for your people to buy from you? (If so, awesome but adding more is always good. If not, then when?)

Now is the time. This is the place. You get to keep the recordings, so even if you can't make it on the forum very often, you're still in.

Here's the link again: Click here to Check it Out

I hope this has been helpful in helping you decide if it's right for you.

Warmly,
Nicole

PS.

It’s another Expert Briefs, where I ask really smart business owners to answer your burning questions.

I've been asked to be on several Google Hangouts recently. And, once I figured out the technology (well, at least figured it out enough that I can muddle through) – it's lots of fun! But, is it worthwhile from a business standpoint?

This week I asked our panel of experts…

Hangouts are all the rage these days.

Are you doing them? And, if so, what are you finding that works well?

Got examples?

I hope you like what my friends have to share.

Rachel Rofe of How To Get Every Book You Write Onto The First Page Of Kindle says:

I've done a few Hangouts. My favorite was the one I did on Christmas to hang out with people who had nothing else to do. A lot of other fantastic marketers joined me, and I think it helped a lot of people.

I haven't done them in a major monetization sense yet, but I'm looking forward to playing with them and seeing what happens. I can't wait to read other peoples' answers on this!

Yes, I've gotten on board with the hangout rage, and love them. I don't think Google really has all the bugs shaken out yet, because sometimes people have trouble getting on the panel, and a couple times people that do have a webcam aren't showing their video, but still…

I love the fact that you can see everybody on the panel at once on the bottom of the screen, it makes it seem more like watching television, and the personality of the participants can come through.

On Webinars vs. Hangouts:

I've been doing webinars for quite a while now, and are used to them, and they just aren't as much fun, I don't think. Plus there are always challenges with webinars in getting the replay recordings.

With hangouts, the recording is uploaded to Youtube in just a couple minutes, with GTW, it would take me sometimes half a day to convert the recordings, upload them to my server, and send out the links… and that would be on a good day.

So yeah, I'm having fun with hangouts, here's an example of one or our more recent ones that I think went relatively well:

Alice Seba of Step-by-Step PLR Guides says:

We’ve been doing weekly Hangouts for Contentrix.com for the past few months. It’s just a casual everyone-welcome type of thing as we get to know the technology.

We have one more Hangout before the summer, but then we’ll be back in September.

You can see our most recent Hangout here.

It’s about using PLR to boost your business, so might be of interest to you as well.

The Hangouts are a lot of fun, but sometimes, it’s a little difficult to navigate. Inevitably, someone will have trouble finding the Hangout or connecting, but as people get more familiar with the technology, it gets easier. Just be prepared to give your attendees a hand and if your Hangout is attached to any sort of paid product, go the extra mile in ensuring they don’t miss out.

So far, we’ve kept things pretty casual and I’m learning the ropes myself. A few technical things I’ve learned:

The Hangouts on Air feature allows you to live broadcast your Hangout via YouTube. It also records the video for you, so it’s a super easy way to create video content.
If you or your attendees have any trouble getting in, try using the Chrome web browser. It seems to be optimized for Google+ (we learned that when Nicole herself had trouble getting into one of our Hangouts).

For improved performance, use a wired Internet connection. While wireless works well for some, the connectivity will generally be better with a wired connection.

Overall, just relax and have fun. I’m not a video person myself, but I do enjoy the Hangouts because they can be an actually conversation, rather than me sitting in front of a camera and yacking away. It certainly depends on your goal with the Hangout, but I always encourage participants to speak whenever they have a question or have an opinion or tip to add. It’s much more interesting to get a variety of perspectives in on the conversation.

Jeanette S. Cates, PhD of Plan Your Online Business says:

I am not currently doing hangouts. I've seen so many poorly presented hangouts that were just a waste of my time that I hesitate latching onto yet another new technology.

I generally do not do “face” videos, so hangouts are not the appropriate technology for my comfort level. However, I can see their value when used properly, particularly for truly informal chats – or as a substitute for a webinar.

I am experimenting more and more with Hangouts these days, not so much as an alternative to webinars but as a different way to communicate. My favorite use of them by far is for private mentoring sessions with some of my clients. It's almost like being in the same room with them and we are accomplishing so much our time together. I use a new YouTube channel I created just for this purpose so they're really private Hangouts. As with anything new, practice makes perfect, so keep on ‘Hangin' Out' to see if this is for you.

I am doing hangouts at least once – more like twice per week now with my subscribers and the public. I am finding that the engagement is really well received and my view count is going through the roof on Youtube. People are able to interact easily – and feel like they get to know you better – if they can see a face – and relate to it.

branding – heck yeah – the branding element alone is worth it.

I have found that the increase in responsiveness to standard emails is greatly increased, because the same people that pick up the emails – also saw me on a hangout in the last few days.

I can positively say that the results are ALL good.

Nicole Dean of .. here! .. says:

I don't have a whole lot to say on this topic. In fact, I asked the question because I wanted to see what my friends were doing that is working well. Sneaky, aren't I?

The one thing that's really holding me back from Hangouts is the same thing that keeps me from doing video in general. I don't do 2D well, as my husband says. lol. Translation: I look goofy on video and in pictures, apparently. (Thanks, honey…) But, it's true. So there you have it. I don't have a face that flattens well, I guess?

Anyway, it's so hard to get over that self-consciousness that I don't know if I want to do it. Although, I know if I do video enough I'll stop feeling so yucky on camera. So right now, the only hangouts that I've done have just shown a picture of me on the screen rather than video.

And, yes, the learning curve for the technology is a bit of a pain. In my first hangout with Alice, I wasn't able to even get on until 20 minutes into the call. And, in my Hangout with Dennis, I tried using my iPad so that I could use a video camera (yes, I got brave that day) – but the app just crashed. So, I'm hoping the technology will improve so that it's a friendlier option to really hanging out with coaching clients, in mastermind groups, or in teaching classes.

What about you?

But WHAT the heck is NAMS? And, who is it for?

The problem is that the benefits were not clearly stated on the sales page – as far as what members actually receive.

So, I recorded a quick video to share the “behind the scenes scoop” as to what you actually get as a NAMS member. JUST the 30 information-packed webinars in the members' area alone are totally worth joining, in my humble opinion.

Check it out here:

If you have ever thought of joining, go to this page to see what's included. (I think you'll be shocked!)
Click here to Check out NAMS (use this coupon code for 85% off: MYNAMS85)

In a nutshell, members get…

ok, but who should NOT join NAMS?

1. If you're spending and spending and not actually taking the time to learn the material and implement. Then hold off for now and please don't sign up. (Go through what you've already bought first.)
2. If you do not wish to be any of the following: an affiliate marketer, online business owner, information marketer, or blogger. (Then it's not a good fit.)
3. If you're just wanting to throw up a bunch of quick websites and watch the easy money roll in. (That's not quite how it works…)

Is NAMS perfect? The Be-All End-All Solution You Need?

Nah. There are definitely things I'd improve, but David is working on a lot of that behind the scenes – like organizing the tons of content on the site so it's easier to navigate.

It is, however, a place that I trust to send my own mother. And there aren't a whole lot of those places online.

I hope you like it.

I just got home from the NAMS Conference in Atlanta. NAMS stands for Niche Affiliate Marketing System and it's all about how to get started with Affiliate Marketing and then grow your business out from there. I'm totally hooked on this event. (You won't see me promoting many live events – and you'll see why in a sec.).

I always have a hard time promoting NAMS, simply because I can't seem to express in words what I feel about how special this event is.

NAMS is family. Plain and simple.

There's no other event that I look forward to as much.

My NAMS Timeline

NAMS 2 (August 2009): I first discovered NAMS in August 2009. I bought a ticket and went as an attendee to meet the instructors (and, of course, learn a thing or two). I hung out and learned lots and had a great time. I was asked during that event to come back as faculty. (The man in charge, who started NAMS, David Perdew, knew that I worked with Jimmy D. Brown as his Affiliate Manager. David was also familiar with my work here on my blog and my EasyPLR.com site – as well as knowing that I'm a fun person with integrity. So, I was in.)

Here's a pic of me and David taken in 2010:

NAMS 3 (Jan. 2010): I went again in January 2010 to NAMS 3 as a presenter (and was so impressed that I brought my mom with me) – and had a fabulous time once again.

NAMS 4 (August 2010): I went to NAMS 4 (my 3rd time) and made tons of memories. In fact, I laughed so hard on a number of occasions that I gave myself a headache.

NAMS 5 (January 2011): NAMS 5 was virtual. (Pout pout.) I did a presentation as a webinar, but, unfortunately wasn't able to hang with my friends since there was no live event.

NAMS 6 (August 2011): And, now I just got home from NAMS 6. I brought my mom again, as well as my 14 year old son. There are not many events that I would bring my family to, unfortunately. But this is DIFFERENT.

NAMS 7 (January 2012): I can't WAIT for NAMS 7 in February!

What Makes NAMS Different from other Conferences?

As someone who’s been to bunches of seminars and conferences about Internet Marketing & How to Make Money Online – NAMS is unique and stands apart in many ways.

1. This is a Workshop as opposed to a Seminar.

The difference is that there are presenters, but the attendees are encouraged to accomplish goals during the day. Prizes are even awarded for those who take initiative and make progress.

2. Meet a Variety of Rockstar Faculty Members.

There is a huge faculty so you have the opportunity to hear things from different perspectives which is something that I love. Usually there are about 20 presenters, plus normally at least 8 aides (helpers) who are also knowledgeable marketers who are on hand to help the attendees.

3. Choose the right level for you. (Not one size fits all.)

The workshop is broken up into four rooms where newbies, beginners, intermediates, and advanced level marketers are challenged. There's the 100 (beginners), 200 (have a blog and need to make more aff sales), 300 (setting up more streams of income, including product creation), 400 (assets, outsourcing, systems, etc). Beginners never feel ‘dumb’ and Advanced students aren’t allowed to get bored.

4. There is no “pitching” allowed by the presenters.

Several seminars that I’ve attended were laughable because every single speaker ended his/her presentation with a sales pitch for a $2000-$5000 product that was “essential” and “breakthrough” and would change your life forever. I take that back. It would have been laughable if it hadn’t been so sad. It doesn’t sit well with me to see beginners writing check after check for materials that they do NOT need. It would be such a better investment for them to spend that money outsourcing and getting things DONE. (Stepping off the soapbox.)

Anyway, at NAMS, the presenters are there to help, not to sell, although we are able to have a “where you can learn more” slide at the end of our presentation with a special offer or just a link to our blog. If we meet at NAMS and you ask me about my products, I’ll gladly tell you where you can learn more about them, but I will not be up at the front of the room, telling you that you must spend your money on my stuff or be doomed to fail. In fact, I may recommend that you do not purchase my products if it's not a good fit for any reason.

5. AWESOME presenters. Big Hearts & Big Smarts!

Seriously. One thing that I love about David is that he doesn’t just look for smart people, but he finds positive, energetic, warm people who truly care. And, I’m absolutely honored to be included in that lineup for this event. As I mentioned, the presenters are great people and they are all highly approachable. You will not feel intimidated to talk with them, nor is it “cliquey”. The whole point is that the faculty is expected to be approachable during the weekend.

6. The networking simply rocks.

I haven't been able to figure out why this is the case, but the attendees are fabulous. The participants are smart, funny, good people and I always learn just as much by talking with them as I do from listening to the presentations. In fact, some of the best brainstorming happens after hours.

Here's a pic in my hotel room at about 1 am during NAMS 4 –

Lain Ehmann, me, Kristen Eckstein

Overall, it's a very fun weekend. I'll be posting pics soon, but, in the meantime, wanted to make sure you could be part of this amazing community at whatever level you choose.

Let me quickly give you some options so you can pick what's right for you.

Option #1: My NAMS Membership with the Benefit of Attending the Live Event in February for Only $97

It's three solid days of awesomeness.

My presentation in the 400 room was “Building Assets on the Web: Multiple Streams of Income without Madness” — Terry Dean actually BLOGGED about my presentation – including mentioning an idea that he's going to copy from me. WOW. I'm still giggling a little about that.

ok. So, if you want to be a fly on the wall and learn about conversion from Terry Dean, building assets from me,
monetization from Bob “the Teacher” Jenkins – as well as Webinars from Paul Evans and a bunch more — check out this link:

Grab the NAMS 6 Recordings

Use Coupon Code: IWASTHERE to save $200!

Option #3: Buy a Ticket to NAMS 7 in January

The other way to attend is to purchase a ticket for NAMS 7 in February at full price. Here's the link to do that: NAMS 7 February (but again please note, with Option #1 you can get your ticket for a lot less).

I hope that helps tell you a little bit more about where I've been and what NAMS is all about.

I'll be posting more pictures soon!

Warmly,
Nicole Dean

Hi. What a crazy week. Do you ever feel like that? Like your brain is on overdrive and nothing makes sense? Well I'm in one of those weeks. Yes, no matter whether you are just starting out or you've got an established profitable business – you still have these ebbs and flows that can throw you for a loop.

That's when having systems and a plan in place are so critical. You don't HAVE to think. You just do the next thing on your list.

For instance, yesterday was Weird Niche Wednesday here on my blog, so I knew what I had to do. I had to find a weird niche and write about it. So, I wrote about Cat Butts. Yes, it IS a niche.

Don't believe me? You can see for yourself: Cat Butts Niche

Speaking of niches, my very good friend, Susanne Myers, who is a flippin' genius in my opinion, has put together a system for finding profitable niches.

“Big, fat, hairy deal”, you might say. “What does this mean to me?”

Good question!

Well, it can mean one of two things:

1. Help you to INSTANTLY get started in a new niche and take it to profit.
2. Help you to IMPROVE your income in the niche that you're in, if it's one of the two she's researched.

She absolutely loves to research keywords and domains and find profitable niches. (“Profitable” is the operative word.) So, she's decided to put together a sort of “Niche Profits in a Box for Affiliate Marketers” for various profitable niches, based upon research that she's personally done herself.

AND she's including a step-by-step system for profiting (which she TOTALLY could be selling separately).

We're testing the market with two brand new Niche Packs.

– Blogging for Profit
– Debt Reduction

Each of the two packs contains the following:

– Who your target market for this niche is
– List of affiliate products available that you can promote for profit
– 100 domain name ideas (plus list of modifiers for hundreds more)
– Detailed keyword report containing 1000 keywords for this niche
– 100 article and blog post ideas/titles
– 15 different author resource boxes
– 2 different detailed marketing plans (beginner and advanced) with action steps to get you up and running right away.
– List of available PLR products for this niche. (You'll need content, right?)
– Recommended tools and resources

Like I said, she's testing this at a low low price to see what the response will be.

Here's where you can go right now to check them out –

Getting out of Debt Niche System.

Blogging for Profit Niche System.

If you're confused, here's the scoop:

–> These new niche packs will help you cut through the clutter and point you to proven, profitable niches. (No more guessing.)

–> She then provides you with step-by-step instructions to get started in (or dominate) that niche – for profits.

–> If you're already in these markets – this research is even more valuable.

If used, these can be powerful little critters.

Go check them out –

Getting out of Debt Niche System.

Blogging for Profit Niche System.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,
Nicole Dean

PS. If you're in a market other than the two listed above, be sure to sign up for Susanne's update list and, once you do, email her with your niche so she can consider adding a niche profit pack for your topic, as well.

PS again. I don't think “Cat Butts” is a very profitable niche, but you'd have to ask Susanne to be sure.

I have some fun news. I was in Atlanta this month attending an event called NAMS which stands for “Niche Affiliate Marketing System” workshop.

The focus of NAMS is all about building your online business, growing it, and experiencing the kind of lifestyle you're working towards.

Guess what? I'll be leading some of the workshops next year. (Yay me!)

If you're interested, be sure to grab your spot now for the January 31st event. There's a huge discount that you can save a ton of money on the ticket. (Plus, it's 100% fully refundable if something comes up and you can't attend.)

Here are some pics from the event:

That's me and Lynn Terry. Don't you just love her shirt?!
You can order that shirt “I’m Blogging This” at Think Geek.

That's Susanne (The Hillbilly Housewife), Tracy Roberts (Love Impossible), and me.

ok. The full scoop.

What I really liked about NAMS:

1. One of the things that I really loved about the event was the fact that it was a workshop, not just lectures. I saw a lot of attendees actually making progress and trying new things while they were at the event. Usually at these types of events, people take a bunch of notes, go home and then do nothing because they either forget the details or they get overwhelmed. So, this type of setting really pushes you to make progress.

2. Another aspect that I liked was that the workshops were broken down by skill level. After our big pep talk in the morning, we broke into smaller rooms of beginners, intermediate, and advanced. I was in the advanced room, which was a pretty intense, serious business masterminding experience. Intense but with serious results. I popped into the intermediate room to hear one of Willie Crawford's talks (about arranging JV partners) – and those were a lot more relaxed. The beginner room was a lot of fun.

3. I also enjoyed the fact that we ended each day in the same big room again as a group. It allowed David Perdew to wrap up the day, give away some goodies, and let us know what we were in for the next day. Then, we all left the room together and headed out to dinner and drinks and discussion. It kept us from becoming too segmented and made sure that the beginners and intermediates walked out of the room with the people who could help them.

4. Good people. I was thrilled at the level of helpfulness and overall goodwill at the event. Some events feel “closed” and this was like family. In fact, David's lovely bride (an Opera singer) sang “Amazing Grace” on Sunday morning and brought tears to the eyes of many of the people in the room.

5. Mostly Pitch-free Weekend. At many seminars you feel slimy at the end of every presentation because it's nothing but a sales pitch – no real value. This was not that way at all. The entire weekend was packed with actionable content and only one or two product/coaching suggestions tossed in, which I didn't mind one bit.

What could be improved for next time?

I've already said all of this to David, and he's really receptive to feedback so I'm happy to share my thoughts in public here.

1. The theme of the weekend got a bit confusing. Although the event was called “Niche Affiliate Marketing” the lectures/workshops included all kinds of info-product creation, too. While this was fine for the advanced group, I think it confused some of the newer marketers.

2. I would have liked to see the beginners & intermediates have more list-marketing workshops. My lists are my livelihood and I think that really should have been included.

3. The hotel had WONDERFUL staff and they went above and beyond on every front except for one minor thing. The internet was not reliable, which becomes a big thing when you've got 100 plus people all trying to be online at the same time. Not good. I understand that the event will be at a different location in January, which is unfortunate, since the staff was fabulous. However, an internet marketing workshop really needs internet access.

4. I wasn't crazy that the beginner group started off with Ning and Cagora. I felt that they should have addressed getting their first WordPress blog up and running first. However, I did discuss this with Lynn Terry on Friday night of the workshop and she made a point to find the attendees that had zero internet real estate of their own and get them started with a blog during the weekend.

Wrap up.

I can't even begin to tell you how cool it is to sit and talk with Willie Crawford, Jeff Herring, Kathleen Gage, and the rest of the brilliant people that were there. And, leaving was like the end of summer camp. I had tears when I hugged people good-bye. But, don't let that worry you. It wasn't cliquish at all. It was my first time attending, so it's not like being the new kid trying to get in with the others at all.

But – there are only a few days left to grab the hugely discounted NAMS tickets. If you even *think* you might like to hang out with me, Willie Crawford, Bob the Teacher, and Lynn Terry in person and share a meal, a drink, and a conversation – then grab a 100% fully refundable spot (Three day workshop).

Here's the scoop: Click here to learn more about NAMS.

It's a fantastic event with wonderful people who truly care. If you can swing it, I highly recommend attending.

Thanks so much for putting your trust in me. I appreciate it greatly!

Warmly,
Nicole Dean

PS. Granted, I'm speaking so I don't have to pay for this one other than my airplane ticket and hotel expenses, but I DID pay to attend earlier this month and I would again if I wasn't a speaker. So, I put my money where my mouth is.

And, just for fun, some more pics:

Me and a bunch of great people from this Masterminding Group.

Thanks for reading. I can't wait to hear your comments. And, I'd love to chat with you in person at NAMS.

Are you having a relaxing summer? I hope I can pull you out of that beach chair for a minute. You up for it?

Unless you've been spending your days in that beach chair and ignoring your emails (lucky you!) — you know that there have been several massive product launches lately. (One is all about the “secrets” of Traffic… if you know what I'm sayin'.)

It all starts with one innocent little email, then your inbox gets slammed with email after email — all offering the same product. And, they keep upping the ante. It seems like every successful marketer on the planet drops everything to scramble to promote that one product.

Obviously, product launches can bring in oodles of money.

Unfortunately, most people who write an ebook, put together a membership site, or sell an audio or video course and then try to have a big launch are disappointed.

The fact is that the Average person can not pull off a BIG product launch because he/she does not have a network of guru buddies to reach out to. Most people simply would not pick up the phone and say “Hey, (insert Big Shot here), I know you don't know me, but would you please send a mailing to your list about my new ebook? It's really good. I promise.”

You'd sound like a goober.

So, how do you pull off a successful product launch without having a list, JV buddies or even affiliates?

This report fills in the blanks.

One of the biggest frustrations in internet marketing is that you have to sell thousands of $10-$20 ebooks each year in order to make a full-time living online. The logistics can be pretty daunting.

If your goal is $20,000/year, you have to sell either 2000 ebooks at $10 each or 1000 ebooks at $20 each, right? And, you have to deduct for affiliates and paypal fees, so you'd actually need to sell quite a few more. Ouch.

There are a few ways to get over this hurdle.
1. Reach more people. (Get more customers.)
2. Write more ebooks. (Offer more low end products.)
3. Offer a higher-end product or service that your existing customers can pay more for. (Charge more for… something.)

Many people flinch at the third option. The thought of putting together a huge course or a big DVD package that they can sell for $100 or more sounds like a ton of work.

However, in Jimmy D. Brown's usual way, he's found a way to help marketers earn more with their EXISTING business. That's the part that I love about this. It doesn't even entail setting up a new website. You can just add this to your current business and multiply your income immediately.

What is it?

Coaching. Personal one-on-one e-coaching.

Jimmy's been doing this for years. And, every time he offers coaching, it sells out.

He's just written a short report on the topic. So, whether you teach people how to get their babies to sleep at night or teach women how to look good in a bikini this summer… people may be willing to pay you (and pay you well) for some hand-holding to reach their goals.

Here's the report. It's only $10 and it comes with resale rights so it's a pretty good deal.

www.BeginnerCoach.com

Let me know if you've tried this and what the results were.

Warmly,

I was chatting with Willie Crawford the other day, and remembered an ebook of his that I wanted to get my hands on. So, I bought it and I'm digging in. It's a very interesting read so far. It's compiled by Willie, but has many contributors.

It's called “20 Ways to Make $100/Day Online” and I'm actually really enjoying it.

The first part is written by Dr. Mani (if you haven't heard of him, yes, he's a big-shot.) He talks about how you have to turn your mindset around before you can even think of making $100/day and I agree.

I've talked on this blog on many occasions about how your expectations affect your reality. Now, I'm not into the whole “think about it and it will happen” jazz. I believe you do have to work your butt off and build a strong, solid business, but… I do believe that your expectations will affect your experience.

For instance, if I made it my goal to earn $50/month, then, obviously, I'd do certain things to make that happen, and I may or may not reach that goal.

If, however, I set my goal at $500/day, then I'd be basing my decisions upon reaching THAT goal, and I think that would affect my bottom line (and ensure I'd get waaaaay past that other $50/month goal). I'd base my actions upon the hope of reaching $500/day, and wouldn't that make me more focused and make me more determined?

So, why not set your goals higher? If your goal is $200/month, raise it to $500/month. See what happens. Do you work harder? Do you stay more focused?

It comes down to making goals that challenge you. Yes, there is something to be said for making your goals achievable, but I do believe that $100/day is achievable for everyone. Heck, if I can do it, so can you!

I do recommend this ebook. Not every idea in it will interest you, but, if you have a measly $27 to spare, then I would highly recommend you grab a copy of 20 Ways to Make $100/Day Online. It's over 200 pages of information. I've been around the Internet Marketing block a few times, and, of course, there is ALWAYS more to learn and I have to say I'm enjoying it so far. Just the info about upsells and downsells reminded me that I still need to add that to my business model… oops!

If you've read the ebook, please post your thoughts below. Would love to hear your opinion!

Warmly,
Nicole
