This morning, I received a notice that John Reese is shutting down his Blog Rush project as it's just not living up to his expectations.

There are a few lessons to be learned here.

1. Test, test, test.
You can't know what is or is not working unless you're testing results.
If it's Google Adsense, set up channels to see which of your sites or sections is making you money. If you're promoting affiliate programs, keep track of those that are converting and those that are not. Follow the money trail.

2. EVERYONE has failures.
You don't own the rights to having projects fail — although I know it can feel like that some days. (We ALL have those days.) We all have had to close the doors on projects that stunk it up. We all have had to rethink and readjust areas of our businesses. It's part of being adaptable and learning and growing — not failing. To me, a larger mistake is holding onto something that's not making money, even when you KNOW that it's a failure, just because it's in your heart. Been there. Done that. Which leads me to…

3. FOCUS.
In order to focus, you need to cut off those projects that are sucking your resources. We all have 24 hours in the day, and, last time I checked, some of that was needed for sleeping. So, we have to make decisions at times with our brains and not with our hearts. (If I made every decision with my heart, you don't even want to KNOW how many websites I'd have today.)

My bud, Kelly McCausey has a wonderful course about focus (Power of a Focused Business). If you need a pep talk that's a great course. I've been very heavy into focusing more this year, although I still think I need a major dust-bunny sweeper. You know, like Clean Sweep, but for your business? I think that's what Alice Seba is doing in her Spring Cleaning for your Business course.

So, what lessons are you taking from this experience? I know it makes me sit up a little taller today, knowing that even the Great John Reese (and I truly say that with respect, not sarcasm) also stumbles on occasion.

What do you do when you stumble? Brush off your pants and get back to work.

Onward we go. Can't wait to see what he does next.

Have a great week!

Nicole

This is my response to the next question in my private conversation with my bud Kelly McCausey (click here if you are new).

Kelly asked….

My next question for you is this: What do you think of Twitter? And why don’t I see more of you there?

Hey Kel,

I really enjoyed reading your list of Pet Peeves for your Online Talk Radio Show. I agree on all of those. They would bug me, as well. As for not promoting the interview, that is just bad manners. But, I do find that a lot — that lack of reciprocity. Now, when I promote something that John Reese comes out with, I don't expect him to reciprocate — or if I promote something like GoDaddy as an affiliate, but in networking circles, I don't hear “What can I do for YOU?” as much as I'd like after doing something for someone else. Or even a “Thanks.” Hmm… I guess I feel a blog vent coming on about this one. lol.

However, that wasn't YOUR question to me. Yours was Twitter. I am on Twitter, as you know – Nicole Dean on Twitter. I actually do enjoy it, although I find my time on Twitter gets spent quickly. All of a sudden it's time for me to get the kids and I haven't gotten through my To-Do list at all. Kind of like me with forums — so I have to limit that time a bit. The other reason I haven't been Twittering is that I haven't been able to get the site to load in weeks. I click on it in my browser and it sits on loading … and loading… and loading… but that must just be me? Maybe it's a sign. Or maybe I need to try it in a new browser. lol.
I still get traffic from Twitter and I do like stopping by to say ‘Hey I just blogged about…' but I can't chat on there too much or I'll end up chatting with my wonderful friends and making new ones. (Dreadful, I know.) Maybe I just need a good lesson in moderation?

So, that's my Twitter Truth.

ok. So, back to my question for you… going back to my beef earlier, what do you consider when networking with other work at home moms on a long-term basis. For instance, what makes you loyal to one person and not another? (Other than quality, of course.)
Chat soon, mi amiga!

Nicole

John Reese just recently announced a new idea for bloggers to get more traffic.

This new program can help you drive tons of traffic to your blog on an ongoing basis, but you need to HURRY as there is a definite advantage to being an early adopter of this amazing service!

Basically, it's similar to ad exchanges, but it's targeted towards your blog content. And, because it's created by John Reese, I do believe it will be good.
I could try to explain it, but he put together a great video that does it better than I could.

CLICK HERE TO GET MORE TRAFFIC TO YOUR BLOG.

Let me know if you try it. I'll be reviewing my results soon.

Nicole

PS. If you look to the right, you'll see how it works.
