I get asked this question all the time, and we've been talking about Generating Web Traffic with Link-Building so here goes.

Here's how I spent my day on Tuesday of this week.

Posted recorded podcast interview with Susanne Myers on this blog.

Posted one other blog post: How to Motivate Affiliates

Sent a note to EasyPLR list and customers about new PLR.

Emailed my affiliates about an EasyPLR.com affiliate contest to get them promoting.

Posted on a private forum that I visit – and my links are in my signature file there.

Asked for feedback on same private forum regarding a blog post of mine.

Hopped on Twitter for about 10 minutes of interaction, twice today.

Wrote an article for David Perdew to include in a project that he's working on – more exposure.

Swung by my Facebook Fan Page to check things out and post updates.

Answered a few questions in a written interview and sent it to an affiliate to post on his blog.

Started my next post for a Cross-Blog Conversation that I'm doing.

Did you notice something? Only the first two items are activities that were done on my own web property. The rest are getting exposure outside my websites. It's called marketing and it's where the money's at.

You'll notice that most of what I focused on involved writing today. I focus on what I do best and on what I actually WILL get done.

Some things you'll probably not see on my to do list.

Adwords. If you want to make money with Adwords, you're following the wrong lady. At least at this point in time.

Writing software. No interest at all.

Listing items on eBay. Not my specialty.

Scheduling Interviews for my Podcast. I leave that up to my highly capable Personal Assistant, Tracy Roberts.

Installing Scripts. I outsource that to save my sanity.

Designing Graphics. I outsource that because I can't design my way out of a paper bag.

Recording a webTV show, like iCarly. Uh… no.

Why do I tell you this?

Because there are a million ways to make money online and to market your online business. You do not have to do everything. Choose what you're good at and work to those strengths rather than beating yourself up about all of the things that you are NOT good at.

You won't find me crying in my beer because I'm not a talented graphic artist. You'll see me thanking my lucky stars that I've got talented people in my circles who can keep me looking good.

Have a fabulous day!

Warmly,
Nicole

PS. I also attended a special Thanksgiving breakfast at my daughter's school, took my son to karate, played with my puppies, cleaned the kitchen, and am about to do my exercises – all before 5pm. You've got to make time to play, too!

If you're not on Twitter yet, because you think it's a waste of time, here's another reason to get on NOW.

Social Proof.

Definition from wikipedia.org: Social value of unfamiliar people is ambiguous and requires a lot of effort to assess accurately. Given limited time and motivation, other people will often evaluate others based on how surrounding people behave towards them. For example, if a man is perceived to be in a company of attractive women, or is associated with them, then his perceived social value and attractiveness will be perceived to be greater. The implied cognition in this case would be “All those girls seem to really like him, there must be something about him that's high value”.

If he is seen to be rejected by many women, his social value will be judged negatively. The implied cognition is then “I just saw him being rejected by many women, there is probably a good reason why they don't like him”.

What does that mean? Well, I can say all day and night that I'm a fantastic internet marketer and a fun person to know. However, would you believe me? Maybe or maybe not. If you hadn't gotten to know me yet, then probably not.

BUT… if others who you really respect say it, then you are more likely to believe it.

Look at the kinds of social proof you can get in just 2 days on Twitter from amazing people –

http://twitter.com/WillieCrawford/statuses/1716302479 @WillieCrawford

http://twitter.com/KenMcArthur/statuses/1711791037 @KenMcArthur

http://twitter.com/nicheprof/statuses/1690507887 @nicheprof

All of these are public and are up on Twitter for all the world to see…

Are you using Twitter to its full advantage? When someone says something nice about you, are you putting it up on your website? You can darned well believe these are going up on NicoleDean.com! I'd be foolish not to put public comments like that from people who are respected, known, liked and trusted on my site.

Go back through your Twitter history and see how you can repurpose Twitter comments that people have made about YOU. There is so much more to Twitter than just “chatting”.

My 2 cents for the day.

A big “Hey there” to all of my readers!

I just got news that I got a killer award. I honestly didn't see this one coming since I don't consider myself a blogger — just a work at home mom who happens to be an internet marketer and writer — who uses Word Press as her content management system. (lmao!) I guess that would make me a blogger?

Here's my badge of honor. I'll have to put it on the side nav, too, to show it off.

Top 10 WAHM Blogs

BIG hugs to everyone who thought of me and mentioned me in the voting. And a big “high five” to all the other WAHM blogger nominees. Keep up the great work!

I'm off to celebrate.

I was tagged by my friend, Lynette, today to complete this Meme. I have to answer 5 questions about myself as an online business owner so here goes…

1. How long have you been blogging?

Since Feb. 2005. (Probably within a week of joining www.MomsMastermind.com and learning about it from you, Lynette!)

2. What inspired you to start a blog and who are your mentors?

I'm sure it was Lynette who got me started. I'm a techno-phobe in many ways, so it sometimes takes a firm hand to get me to leap. (Uh… push me off a cliff…)

My blogging mentors? I love Kelly McCausey's blog and I've recently started reading Lynn Terry's blog, too. Other than that, I mostly just pop around based upon who shows up in my word press dashboard as having talked about me recently and I hang out there a bit before getting back to work.

3. Are You trying to make money online, or just doing it for fun?

Both. I enjoy it, and I have bills just like anyone else.
4. Tell me 3 things you LOVE about being online.

1. I love having the freedom to work from home and the flexibility that comes with it.
2. I love my amazing friends that I've gotten to know.
3. And, I love being able to express myself and teach online. It's a great feeling to have people tell me that I've made a difference in their lives.

5. Tell me 3 things you STRUGGLE with in the online world.

1. Balance. I love what I do, and I could work 12 hour days, if I don't keep myself in check.
2. Computer-butt. (‘Nuff said.)
3. Standing out from all the Internet marketing crap that's being sold by people who have no idea what they're talking about. Obviously that's not everyone since there are many people online who DO know what they are talking about, but you know what I mean.

Who's next? I'd like to call on a few of my Twitter friends… Tish, Carrie, and Arika.

How about you? When did you start blogging? Who are your mentors? And, do you blog for fun or profit? Please post your answers below…

Nicole
