It seems that every successful internet marketer is selling some traffic course (and a lot of unsuccessful marketers are, too). There are SO many ways to get traffic to your website, and it's next to impossible to try to master everything.

I mean, really, how can one person learn all of this stuff…

• SEO
• Article Marketing
• Pay Per Click
• Squidoo
• Craigslist
• Buying ezine ads
• Blogging
• Link building

And, still get ANY sleep at all? I mean, seriously. Heck, I've been doing this since 2001 and I still SUCK at Pay Per Click. (I'm TERRIBLE at it.) And, I'm just now learning about how to use Craigslist effectively (more on that soon, I promise).

My point is that the gurus can't possibly be experts in everything either, I don't care who you are. And, they just plain aren't experts in everything. It would be impossible.

So, how do they get traffic? Sure, they can hire people to do all the things listed above for *each and every* product they launch, OR…

(insert drum roll here)

Instead of looking at what they say, let's look at what they do.
Let me ask you this. How do YOU find out about new products? Do you find a pay per click ad? Do you search google and find the product in the search engine listings? Do you go and look through Craigslist in every city, looking for new products to buy? Of course not.

You start getting bombarded with email… after email… after email… (need I go on)?

The gurus all turn to their affiliate programs. Plain and simple. When they have a big launch, they turn to their affiliate programs, and their JV buddies (setting them up with affiliate links).

Just think of that power — to draw traffic whenever you need it. To have a TEAM of experts, who are each good at different ways to bring traffic. Heck, some of my affiliates rank higher in the search engines than I do. Many of them run pay per click ads. Some are buying ezine ads to promote us. Others are posting on Craigslist. The point is that I don't HAVE to be an expert in everything. I have affiliates, and I thank God for each and every one of them.

If you have an infoproduct (an ebook, audio, video) that you are selling, and your affiliate program is underperforming, then I highly recommend you do a shift in your thinking. Stop trying to do it all yourself and shift your focus to empowering your affiliates to do the work for you.

Now, I'm not trying to imply that there's some cover-up. I do think, however, that everyone should watch actions as well as words. Putting the two together will teach you more than one alone.

My client and friend, Jimmy D. Brown, just wrapped up his latest product. It's quite good, and it shows step-by-step in great detail how to run a kick-butt affiliate program. Plus, he has several “fast acting” bonuses (including a discount) available for a very limited time. There's also a free ecourse on the page, so do stop by and check it out.

I highly recommend this course. Even if you don't need the product, the free ecourse on the page is EXCELLENT.

Also, be sure to read the sales page just to study the sales letter. It's one of the best I've ever seen.

I am looking to see how affiliate marketers stay organized with all their affiliate programs, links, etc. Do you have info on any of your sites that could help with that or know of any courses or anything that could give me some good tips? I'm a bit flustered when it comes to going into my favorites to find links and graphics, etc to add to my different sites.

That's a fantastic question!

I organize my passwords using a free program called: LastPass. It handles all my usernames & passwords. (I've used it for 3 or 4 years now and love it.)

As for my actual affiliate links, I use redirects for everything, so I can find and update them easily.

You may also consider creating a “hidden” page on one of your websites where you store your affiliate links (but not your passwords as it wouldn't be secure). Put THAT in your favorites, instead, so you can just refer to it whenever you are putting together a promotion. Instead of looking all over the place, you can have everything together.

Why I’m Promoting your Competition’s Affiliate Program and Not Yours

Today, I’m sitting at my computer, about to launch a new site and I’m going through Clickbank, looking for potential affiliate programs to promote.

Time and time again, I’m shaking my head, wondering if these Internet Marketers realize how many potential affiliates they are losing, as I click the red “x” and go to the next product. And, of course, this isn’t only the products listed at Clickbank. Affiliate Programs everywhere are lacking in their professionalism and respect for their affiliates.

It’s pretty obvious that many people don’t realize what turns off a potential affiliate. Could it be, perhaps, that the people writing these books have not been successful at Affiliate Marketing themselves?

After much frustration, I’ve decided to run through my list of reasons I did not choose your product to promote, and, instead chose your competition.

1. Your page is gaudy and unappealing.
Now, we all know the saying that ‘Ugly sites sell’. That’s absolutely true. A plain blue background with Arial text can make millions. However, a site that looks like a sparkly, flashy mess and gives your visitors a seizure is not cool. Leave the cursors alone. Don’t stick animation on there. And, for goodness sakes, stick with only one or two fonts, please.

2. Typos and spelling errors.
This one is actually kind of frightening. If the product you’re selling is an e-BOOK then please act like you know how to write. Have a friend or even an enemy read and reread your sales letter for you. If you don’t have any friends or enemies, then pay someone. Just don’t try to sell an e-book on a sales page that looks like a third grader wrote it. It’s not going to sell. At least I’m not going to sell it.

3. You offer more sales options than Clickbank on the sales page.
For instance, a hard-cover version of your book through amazon. Tacky! Why should I send you traffic through Clickbank so that you can make a commission on amazon? Not a chance. Or even worse, you have both a Clickbank button and a paypal button.

And, my #1 biggest irritant —

4. You’ve got google ads or actually have the guts to sell advertising on your page. (And, no, I’m not joking here.) I don’t even need to go there. Anyone who’s a successful affiliate knows that this is the sign of death for any affiliate program.

So, there you have it. four reasons why your competition is getting my business and you are not.

We all know Content is King (or Queen) and that article directories are a great way to get content for your website or blog.

But, you have to include those darned author bios in every article. Every time someone clicks on that resource box, you lose traffic.

I've searched the web for affiliate programs that provide articles for your use. So, they aren't leaky anymore.

Unfortunately, there are scams everywhere – some you may have heard of sound too good to be true – and they usually are. Oftentimes, women lose a lot of money before they even find a legitimate opportunity, let alone one that they love.

Why it might not be for you: If the thought of sales makes you turn green from nausea, you might want to consider other options.

Internet Auctions
Why we love it: It doesn’t get much simpler than online auctions. Sell your worn clothing or used toys. Or, if you’ve got a knack for pricing, you might find some great items at a garage sale that you can turn over for a profit on online auctions.

Why it might not be for you: Is your house already too small for you and your family? If you don’t have room to store inventory, then online auctions might not be the business for you.

Start a Home Business
Why we love it: No matter what your interest is, you can start a business. Sell products or promote a service that makes life easier for other people. Whether you’re considering making crafts or becoming a massage therapist, if you’ve got the entrepreneurial spirit, then go for it!

Why it might not be for you: Starting from scratch can be a lot of work with little pay in the beginning. So, really invest a lot of time and energy into research, if you are considering this option.

Internet Marketing:
Why we love it: Low start up cost and a lot of flexibility. Internet marketing (selling products online, promoting other people’s products, or providing an online service) really is a great option for a lot of moms.

Why it might not be for you: Internet marketing has a learning curve, just like any other type of business. Anyone who’s ever had a website knows that “if you build it they will come” is not necessarily true. You have to promote, tweak, test, and learn constantly if you want to become a success in Internet Marketing. It is definitely possible and it is a great option, but don’t go into it thinking you don’t need to invest time and money in yourself and in your business. You do.

Surveys for Cash
Why we love it: Yes, there really are companies that will pay you to take surveys. In all honesty, you aren’t going to get rich taking surveys, and you’ll spend a lot of time for little money in most cases. But, if you enjoy hanging out on the computer and think it would be fun to do some surveys while you’re chatting with your friends on IM, then it isn’t a bad way to make a few extra dollars here and there. Just be sure to sign up with a free email account (like hotmail or yahoo) so you don’t get flooded with SPAM!

Why it might not be for you: If time is short or you need to make a lot of money for your family, then spend your time on something else. Surveys aren’t going to pay your bills. Also, there are some scams that charge you for a list of surveys. Be careful.
