I was unaware of this seminar until after it happened. However this is the first sort of negative news I heard from it.

I can understand how some of us would feel that this promotion was a little over-the-top but after all, it was meant to be a fun event for Adults as well as a learning experience. The Rich Jerk has a sort of flagrant persona to his marketing and it is all in fun, and we must admit that he does have ALOT to offer(pun intended) to us in his marketing techniques. We can all learn something new from this guy and Playboy Mansion or not, it is ALL done in good humor and I understand that it was a very successful event and great fun too. Let’s not be quit so serious about where it was held and try to understand that we can relax and have a little Adult fun while we’re learning something as well!
It’s ALL part of who we are so why not just relax and enjoy it!

It was the sexist and homophobic advertising that I thought was offensive and unnecessary. RJ could still have maintained his “Jerk” persona without ridiculing gay men and reinforcing stereotypes of women as sex objects who exist primarily for the enjoyment of their male “owners” (see the Rich Jerk “branding his property” video on YouTube–there’s a link to it on my website).

The Playboy Party promotion reminds me of the time when the Rich Jerk offered “companionship” to 9-11 widows. How could that be funny or at all acceptable to anyone?

It seems at times that our country is starting to worship narcisisstic sociopaths as the ideal male persona; the Rich Jerk character being a prime example. It makes me nauseous thinking about it.

The Rich Jerk Playboy Party certainly had its sexist elements, namely naked women kissing and cavorting for the pleasure of the mostly male guests. However, I understand the pre-party networking event and keynote speech by Eben Pagan was excellent. And I understand that the majority of the guests regarded the party as a professional networking opportunity and acted accordingly.

It’s too bad that RJ and friends couldn’t have simply held a classy Internet marketing event without all the bigoted advertising and marketing.

I THINK YOU ALL ARE BEING A LITTLE DRAMATIC….DID ANY OF YOU GO TO THIS EVENT?? APPARENTLY NOT. IF YOU WOULD HAVE THEN YOU WOULD KNOW HOW PERFECT IT WAS. I HAVE ATTENDED THE MANSIONS PARTIES BEFORE AND THEY (THE RICH JERK) DID AN EXCELLENT JOB! BIG KUDOS TO THE RICH JERK!!!

If there are so many powerful women internet marketers why don’t they arrange their own seminar? Perhaps they can hold it at the historical Betty Frieden house in Peoria, Illinois. With the great response they would get, tickets could easily be sold for $3000. Now, let’s look at reality. The seminar at the Playboy Mansion was conceived by people who saw that it had the basis for a highly successful marketing campaign. Excitement, controversy, money, power and sex. This might not be pallatable to some people but it’s what sells. That being said, it would be interesting to see how many women attend the event at the mansion. You may be surprised.

I am pretty new to the internet marketing business and am subscribed to just a few helpful lists. I found John’s information useful, but when I received the email about the seminar at the mansion I was very turned off and unsubscribed from him.

I was shocked that John promoted this too, but think he realized what he had done after it happnened and am glad he sent his apology.

As for unsubbing from lists, nah I didn’t from John’s because we all make mistakes and his other information is priceless, even if his promotional tastes aren’t always the greatest! However, I think he’ll stop and think twice next time.

How many of us were so disgusted that we actually unsubbed from any of their lists because of it?
